Salary Range: $128,850.00 - $144,100.00

Position Summary

The HR Business Partner is the service delivery owner to assigned organizational units, as well as the HR liaison for the functional areas of Human Resources. He/she will have direct line accountability for vacancy/talent management, performance management and employee relations matters and will be accountable for the delivery and service levels for all other HR services. The Business Partner will leverage the subject matter expertise within central HR to deliver effective and timely HR solutions and programs to his/her constituents.

Job Responsibilities

  • Acts as a single point of HR contact for the managers, faculty and leadership in assigned business unit(s)

  • Assists department leadership with their obligations under applicable HR-related regulatory agencies and governmental agencies. Liaises with HR team to facilitate compliance.

  • Engages with leadership of assigned departments to assess and anticipate HR related needs and align efforts toward a common goal in order to develop business solutions.

  • Helps hiring supervisors manage departmental vacancy lists, and works with recruitment and onboarding staff to expedite the staffing process.

  • Provides business units with HR policy guidance and interpretation.

  • Provides day to day performance management guidance to line management including coaching, counseling, career development, performance management and disciplinary actions.

  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.

  • Communicates and collaborates with HR colleagues to bring a department’s needs forward and create value added solutions.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field

Experience

Several years’ experience working as an HR Generalist, or practical working experience in several HR functional areas, particularly Recruitment and Employee Relations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, employee benefits, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management and federal, state and local employment laws.

  • Must possess and convey a strong managerial presence and the ability to effectively influence outcomes with colleagues individually and in a group setting.

  • The business acumen to develop a clear understanding of the operations of the business unit they serve as well as the insight to understand unspoken nuances of departmental culture.

  • The ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, with departmental leadership in a clear, decisive and compelling manner.

  • Superior accountability skills and the ability to simultaneously manage several issues/initiatives and customers, while ensuring prompt and effective service.

  • The confidence to stress one’s professional perspective and the diplomacy to do so in a collaborative and non-threatening manner.
