Westfield Specialty, Inc. 2025 Summer Intern Program- Actuary Intern, NYC in New York, New York
Our Summer Internship Program is a paid, ten-week program that offers students the opportunity to obtain firsthand insight into the insurance business. Every day you'll learn and develop your skills but you'll also have a clear and supportive path ahead of you. You'll gain the confidence to take on real projects, build your network and learn from senior leaders across our business. We are seeking Intern candidates to work with our Pricing Actuary team in our New York, NY office.
Program Elements Include:
- Classroom and On The Job Training

Participants in the Westfield Specialty Summer Intern Program are immersed in the day-to-day operations of a fast-moving, growing insurance company. You will gain valuable, hands-on experience and insurance industry knowledge during the 10-week program. As a summer intern you will work side-by-side with industry leaders on dynamic projects that provide ample opportunity for challenges, learning and achievement. - Data organization: Input, update, and organize data for actuarial models
- Risk analysis: Analyze risk and predict the probability of future events
- Report preparation: Prepare reports and presentations using software like Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Mathematical modeling: Build mathematical models
- Project collaboration: Work with actuarial project teams
- Communication: Communicate effectively with project teams and mentors
- Special projects: Complete special projects as assigned
- Industry learning: Participate in meetings and informational sessions to learn about the industry and company
- Technical skills: Practice technical skills and learn a variety of methods
- Attend team meetings, participate in discussions, and offer insights or suggestions on process improvement.
- REQUIRED FOR ACTUARY INTERNS: Successful completion of one SOA exam highly preferred (a minimum requirement of scheduled sitting for SOA exam)
- Currently pursuing an Undergraduate or Masters degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Risk Management or equivalent program
- Strong GPA preferred (Minimum GPA of 3.2 required)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Leadership experience through work or involvement in community service, athletics, clubs, or other activities preferred
- Technically adept/digitally savvy
- Ability to be onsite in office 4 days a week
This is a paid internship. Intern will be paid on an hourly basis at the rate of $25/hour.
