Chemours is seeking an EHS Consultant or Specialist (Safety) to join our growing team! This position is available at our New Johnsonville, TN location.

The EHS Consultant or Specialist (Safety) will be a part of an exciting opportunity to impact the company’s Safety compliance and performance programs. This EHS position provides leadership, technical support, guidance, program auditing and development, and assistance to maintain New Johnsonville Plant compliance with applicable Site, Corporate, State and Federal regulations, and requirements.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide leadership, guidance, technical problem solving, training, improvement, and implementation support for safety of high hazard chemical operations.

  • Interface with all site employees, contractors, corporate resources, regulatory agencies, unit operations, and be an active member of the site leadership team.

  • Work to improve systems, procedures, processes, individual capability, and ownership around safety.

  • Participate and assist in preparation of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party safety audit programs.

  • Participate in/facilitate incident investigations as required.

  • Serve as the site subject matter expert, guardian, and trainer of site Safety How procedures related to Safe Work Practices.

  • Review regulatory briefs when related to EHS and anticipate impact.

  • Serve as a key leader or support for Process Safety Management, Risk Management Plan, Responsible Care Management System (RCMS), Occupational Health, Distribution, Emergency Response, OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP).

  • Develop/lead systems to manage special safety programs across the site.

  • Participate site reward and recognition programs.

  • Maintain Metrics (leading/lagging).

The following is required for this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in an EHS (i.e. Safety Sciences, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, etc.) or engineering oriented discipline, OR 5+ years experience as a safety professional at a manufacturing or chemical facility

  • Knowledge of high hazard chemical or process safety management regulated facilities

  • Industrial manufacturing knowledge/experience

  • Sound technical and regulatory based safety and process safety management knowledge, including knowledge of regulations, laws, and standards (specifically OSHA)

  • Ability to anticipate, plan, develop, implement, audit, and improve sustainable systems and processes in the EHS field

  • Strong problem solving and technical skills, with emphasis on safety

  • Eager to learn from, support, and coach all levels of the organization

  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment as the situation requires

  • Ability to network and work cross-functionally with Operations, Technology, Maintenance, and Training organizations

  • Strong multi-task/organization skills

  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft office ie spreadsheets, Powerpoint) and ability to learn new technology.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Be able to perform physical duties related to a work environment at a manufacturing facility.

The following is preferred for this role:

  • 5+ years high hazard chemical process experience

  • Experience at the New Johnsonville plant or other TiO2 plants

  • Work experience in Environmental, Health, Safety, Training, Distribution, and or Emergency Response safety related field

  • Having or being able to obtain the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification

Pay Range (in local currency):

$93,184.00 - $145,600.00

Chemours Level:

25

Annual Bonus Target:

8%

The incentive pay is dependent on business results and individual performance and subject to the terms and conditions of the specific plans.
