8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including pasta, peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings’ private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a private equity firm.

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Our Control Technician is a valuable part of our team. Controls Technician will perform training, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance work throughout the facility during their shift. The priorities for this role include electrical & controls troubleshooting, repair of electrical & controls systems equipment and components, ordering parts and tools. Active leader with the team and supporting current staff members when required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform daily controls tasks and troubleshooting of packaging and production equipment and systems, including, Extruder, Dryers, Dry bulk storage & conveying, Dilute phase pneumatic conveying, High speed packaging including cartoners, baggers, case-packers, palletizers, material handling systems. Partner with operations and maintenance teams to solve repetitive problems, complete preventative maintenance and predictive maintenance programs and work Partner with operations to learn operating systems, while providing training on controls components Maintain current back up files for all equipment control systems. Maintain documentation necessary for operations including work orders, requisitions, activity reports, daily log book, and employee records. Review work needs, inventory, tooling, and OEM manuals to requisition parts and help maintain correct part inventory: type, supply, improvements Participate in daily production meetings Written documentation of program and proper electronic control program storage procedures Other duties, as assigned

Education and Experience Required:

Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime Requires a two-year Technician degree 3+ years hands-on experience in controls, automation Previous controls experience in a food manufacturing facility Previous experience reading blueprints and schematics Previous experience with Allen Bradly, PLC, HDMI, touch screens Previous experience with VFD’s Working knowledge of PLC programming and system integration

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

Previous employee leadership experience Effective verbal and written communication skills required. Previous experience with VFD’s Working knowledge of PLC programming and system integration Working Knowledge of Electricity and Mechanics Knowledge of Food Manufacturing Processes; Good Manufacturing Practices; Quality Assurance and Sanitation Standards AutoCAD experience Knowledge of FactoryTalk SE View, Ignition, RSView32, Rockwell, Wonderware, Siemens SIMATIC, WinCC Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, OEE’s, and 5S

Physical Requirements: Qualified candidates must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation: Must be able to lift up-to 34 pounds 6+ hours per shift Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds 3+ hours per shift Must be able to sit, climb and work off ladder, and operate foot pedals for 3+ hours per shift Must be able to work in a dusty and cold environment for 3+ hours per shift Must be able to work in high heat and humidity for 6+ hours per shift Must be able to balance, bend, crouch, kneel, stoop, walk, and reach above shoulders for 6+ hours per shift Must be able to perform simple grasping, push, pull, perform fine manipulation for 6+ hours per shift Must be able to stand 8+ hours per shift Must be able to work from a lift at heights of 35 feet +
