Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Senior Research Project Manager for the Institute of Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research.Among the key duties of the position are the following:
  • Leads complex and technically challenging analyses of massive health care datasets in studies of pharmaceutical and health services utilization and outcomes.
  • Oversees and conducts analyses involving complex modeling and advanced use of statistical and analytic tools in SAS and other analytic software and guide the work of analytic teams.
  • Works directly with senior faculty and other investigators on study design, development and implementation of protocols for analyses.
  • Applies advanced knowledge of statistical theory and practice to analytic work and provide high-level statistical consultation and expertise to federally funded projects including the selection of appropriate statistical modeling strategies to appropriately address research questions and test hypotheses in pharmacoepidemiology studies.
  • Maintains high-level expertise in advanced statistical techniques for health services and outcomes research; serve as in-house consultant on methods.
  • Implements modeling strategies in health care "big data" to address critical population health questions; plan and implement complex linkages across datasets and multiple sources of administrative, clinical and outcomes data in order to enhance validity of ndings.
  • Plan and implements use of sophisticated methodological tools to reduce confounding in large observational outcomes studies; contribute to research proposals and peer-reviewed articles serving as co-author on articles and reports to funding agencies.
  • Co-leads dissemination and implementation efforts (e.g., articles, papers, conference presentations) in areas of specialization.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Requires a master's degree in a related scientific field with a minimum of five years' experience with managing and analyzing large datasets.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must have excellent skills in planning and organizing data, information and resources as well as in information integration, independent decision-making, and attaining results.
  • This position requires substantial experience conducting sophisticated statistical analyses of large, complex datasets including experience with SAS, R, and/or Stata, statistical modeling, and health care informatics.
  • Must understand the federal privacy regulations, be aware of the function, operation, and importance of the IRB and human subjects' protections.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in analysis of healthcare claims data for health services research and pharmacoepidemiology research is highly desirable.
  • Specically, experience in analysis of regional or national Medicare and Medicaid data is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience with nested and longitudinal modeling methods of health care outcomes, transitions and trajectories are preferred as is knowledge and experience with health care policy, health services research, and health outcomes studies.
  • Experience and management of data projects in working with teams of diverse skill sets in a research environment is preferred.
Equipment Utilized
  • Advanced use of statistical and analytic tools in SAS and other analytic software. Microsoft Office Products.
