Summary: This person plays a key role in product packaging as a member of cross-functional development programs supporting projects from concept through commercialization.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Combination Product (Auto-Injector and Safety Syringe) and Vial Labeling and Packaging technical support to the External Manufacturing Organization (ExM) and Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMO).

  • Leads process investigations when required, using structured root cause analysis tools.

  • Ensure the transfer of robust Primary and Secondary Drug Product Packaging processes to CMOs.

  • Assess and maintain robust packaging process performance at CMO for the primary and secondary packaging of BMS products.

  • Actively works to continuously reduce supply risks associated with packaging operations and processes.

  • In depth understanding of what material attributes impact packaging .

  • Maintains current knowledge of primary and secondary packaging types/technology, packaging processes, packaging equipment and serialization, to support successful operation of the ExM business unit.

  • Work with material suppliers to define/develop component specs.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage one or more tech transfer projects with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to work with packaging engineering teams to provide accurate change controls and technical support for driving CAPA's to completion.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in science or a related field

  • A minimum 5-7 years within Pharmaceutical Engineering and/or relevant industry experience

  • Proven record in pharmaceutical packaging technology, technology transfer, process development and packaging support/activities.

  • Must have in-depth knowledge of secondary packaging processes, and process equipment for auto-injector, safety syringe, vial and syringe labeling, carton loading (Side and Top Loading) and Automation Systems.

  • Knowledge of Automated system components such as PLCs, Sensors, Drive components

  • Experience of methods for optimum primary and secondary packaging assessment.

  • Understanding of packaging material components and their construction.

  • Knowledge of serialization requirements and serialization technology.

  • Proficient in the technical transfer of packaging processes to CMOs within budget and according to project timeline.
