The Center for Research on Ending Violence (REV) at the Rutgers School of Social Work is seeking a postdoctoral scholar interested in gaining further experience related to issues of interpersonal violence specific to the Latinx/o/a population, mentored by Dr. Chiara Sabina.REV provides a unique, supportive, and rich educational environment for post-doctoral associates to continue their learning and to contribute to the Center's work. The center has been recognized as a national leader in producing research to address and prevent interpersonal violence. Post-doctoral associates will have the opportunity be involved in all aspects of research conducted by REV faculty which includes collaborating with community partners, developing research methods, seeking funding opportunities, collecting and analyzing data, and disseminating the findings. REV has been involved with various types of research projects, ranging from federally funded, randomized control trials to local, community-based program evaluations and has a strong history of supporting postdoctoral work. The postdoctoral associates will receive mentoring from REV faculty and work with research teams at the Center. Additionally, REV maintains many collaborative relationships and networks that will enrich the experience of a post-doctoral fellow. REV has several faculty affiliates from within the School of Social Work, other disciplines at Rutgers, from universities around the nation, and in select countries. Additionally, the postdoctoral associate will receive various career development opportunities including but not limited to submission of peer-reviewed articles, expertise in multiple data analysis software, and training on dissemination and translation of findings to diverse audiences including scholars, community-based organizations, and other community members located both internationally and domestically.

REV is situated with the Rutgers School of Social Work, a well-funded school that has a portfolio that exceeds 47 million dollars. Rutgers SSW, is ranked #17 among MSW programs in the nation, and is among the largest and most diverse social work programs in the United States, offering BASW, MSW, DSW, and Ph.D. degrees to over 2,000 diverse students across three campuses in Camden (Philadelphia metropolitan area), Newark (New York metropolitan area), and New Brunswick, the flagship campus.

The position will begin on January 1, 2024 or September 1, 2024. Candidates from groups underrepresented in higher education are strongly encouraged to apply. The duration of the postdoctoral fellowship is for one year; however, renewal is possible and based on performance and available funding. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, interested in forging collaborative relationships with faculty and doctoral students, and have a strong commitment to social justice. Successful candidates must have excellent and advanced data analysis skills to be used with quantitative datasets. Additionally, candidates must have a solid understanding of research on interpersonal violence. The postdoctoral associate will be part of a vibrant cohort of postdoctoral scholars at Rutgers SSW engaged in research that aims to reduce health disparities and ensure racial, social, and economic justice. As part of this cohort, postdoctoral associates will engage in trainings on various topics and have the support of the faculty to begin their own research trajectory.
Essential job functions include:
* Plan, organize, coordinate, and participate in scientific research projects.
* Work closely with principal investigators to manage and mentor additional research team members.
* Develop and/or recommend program intervention, prevention, and/or controls strategies.
* Provide expertise and services on data management, analysis, and interpretation.
* Provide experience-based recommendations and research direction as requested on studies conducted by, or on the behalf of, the principal investigators.
* Conduct research activities (extensive literature reviews) and edit reports, presentations, and other documents.
* Present findings of research to professional groups and community partners.
* Develop scientific documents for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
* PhD (or other doctoral degree) in social work, psychology, public health, sociology, or related behavioral/social science discipline.
* Experience working on research projects with a research team, including students and paid staff.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience in producing scholarly research (manuscripts, conference presentations).
* Experience leading or managing research teams.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Knowledge related to interpersonal violence.
Ability to work independently.
* Quantitative data analytic skills (SPSS, MPlus, or Stata).
* Ability to assist in the development of manuscripts and other forms of dissemination.
* Commitment to community-engaged scholarship
* Strong work ethic and commitment to becoming an independent scientist
