Rutgers University-New Brunswick's School of Engineering is seeking applications for a full-time, non-tenure track teaching faculty position starting in Summer or Fall 2024. The preferred rank is at the assistant professor level, however, applicants with exceptional teaching records will be considered for the associate professor rank. This is a long-term, career-oriented position that provides an initial three-year appointment with the potential for renewal, contingent on satisfactory performance, along with opportunities for reappointment and advancement through the university's teaching faculty track.
The School of Engineering has launched a new, experiential based first year engineering experience by combining technical and sociotechnical aspects of engineering with embedded academic advising/support and community engagement modules. Ideal candidates will collaborate with the faculty and the advising team associated with the first-year program in the transformation of the introduction to engineering course sequence that encompasses various engineering disciplines, computer programming, hardware applications, hands-on activities, teamwork, engineering project design, as well as professional ethics and student success strategies. Responsibilities will include teaching, coordinating, and assessing first-year engineering courses, holding office hours, grading, supervising teaching assistants, serving as a faculty advisor to undergraduates, and other relevant responsibilities as assigned.As one of the nation's leading engineering schools and a member of the Big Ten and the Academic Alliance, Rutgers' School of Engineering prepares a richly diversified body of about 4000 undergraduates and 1000 graduate students with the ability to solve problems, create opportunity, make meaningful societal advances and lead through innovation. With eight active, well-funded research centers in areas such as advanced manufacturing, cyber security, energy storage, and tissue engineering, home to one of five national university transportation centers, and designated as one of six FAA test sites for the integration of unmanned aerial systems into the national airspace, the School of Engineering is engaging students in an engineering experience that will prepare them to excel in the global workplace.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
Applicants must hold a Doctoral Degree in Engineering, Engineering Education, or a related STEM field and have demonstrated evidence of effective teaching and commitment to instructional innovation and student advising.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Prior experience in the engineering industry is also highly valued. Candidates should be dedicated to providing high-quality education to a diverse undergraduate student body and exhibit unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
