Shell Reservoir Engineer in Neuquén, Argentina
Job Description
This position reports to the New Oil Manager in the Argentina Development Team and is responsible for RE inputs to progress the inventory through the maturation funnel. The Reservoir Engineer is responsible for generating the necessary subsurface understanding to feed these processes, this could cover analyzing 100’s wells, interpreting dynamic data and providing inputs for batch initiation and CVA economics.
Accountabilities:
Analyze production performance for use in asset Playbooks
Provide RE inputs to business cycle activities such as Quarterly LE and local reserves certification
Integrate well dynamic and static using RTA modelling
Support exploration & de-risking activities
Participate in Field Development Plan (FDP) design and PAD refinement prior to execution: well spacing, completion design, well pad facility, choke management, landing zone selection and development strategy.
Concept-Select design: present well proposals to senior management for short-term drilling and completion activities.
Interdisciplinary work with Planning and Integration team for economic analysis of development and appraisal projects.
Perform risked and unrisked single well economics.
Plan and execute CVA de-risking activity and data acquisition plan design.
Assure and/or self-assure work in line with seniority
Execution of surveillance plans for CVA de-risking and production optimization purposes.
Support proposals for well intervention
Oversee contracts for services related to surveillance execution and interface with respective vendors
Champion opportunities to streamline processes, cut out waste and improve ways of working
Participation in JV matters: Technical & Operational committee meetings (TCM/OCM)
Well execution notification and simultaneous operations risk management with partners; Authorities & regulators reporting and compliance
Interfaces:
Interface management between multiple locations (Houston, Buenos Aires, Neuquén and Calgary), cultures/languages, and teams/organizations
Dimensions:
The Argentina Technical Asset Team consists of around 28 technical subsurface staff and technicians. The subsurface Development staff sit within 2 teams: Shell operated ventures and non-operated ventures
Requirements:
Fully competent Reservoir Engineering skillset +8 years
Experience in Unconventional Reservoir Engineering techniques & development process
Competent in the application of engineering tools for well & flow performance analysis (GAP, Prosper, Pipesim, Fekete)
Experience on well delivery
Produce and take ownership of high-quality technical work
Demonstrated focus on commercial drivers (mindset) and outcomes of technical work
Able to operate at a proficiency level of “can do with limited help”
Inquisitive nature, examining both Shell and external ways of working to implement best practices for field development and/or surveillance
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with the full range of multi-discipline technical staff.
Knowledge in numerical modelling is a plus
Digital skills and data science is a plus (matlab, spotfire, powerBI, python)
Spanish as mother language – English proficiency level.
