Domtar is currently seeking a mechanical engineer for our Nekoosa, WI Mill. This position reports to the area superintendent and is responsible for providing engineering expertise to resolve problems and implement changes to mill operations, production, maintenance and quality by developing project scopes, cost estimates, designing, constructing, engineering, purchasing and modifying existing and/or installing new equipment or processes. Key Responsibilities: * Managing capital and major expense projects from conception, design and completion through start-up to ensure quality of design, workmanship and functionality. * Preparing estimates for the capital or major expense budgets and for capital appropriations and major expense work orders that will be used by management in their decision-making process. * Providing engineering support to operations and maintenance personnel and management, including troubleshooting, collecting background information/historic data, replacing and repairing equipment to ensure the best possible service from existing systems. Required Qualifications: * BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience * Minimum 3 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment * Proven experience in managing projects * MS Office experience Preferred Qualifications: * Pulp and Paper industry experience Critical Competenciesfor Success: * A personal dedication to safety, including proactive support of efforts to create a culture of safety excellence. * Proven analytical and problem-solving skills * Team player * Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks at one time * Good communication skills * Willing to intervene when an unsafe act is observed * Highly organized Domtar is an equal opportunity employer.
