Position Summary/Description:

CIPhER Postdoctoral Fellowships in Pharmacy Education Innovation and Research. These one-year post-doctoral fellowships provide exposure and mentored experience across the full range of educational research activities, including study design, data collection, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and grant writing. Although the program will be tailored to each Fellow’s unique skills and experiences, they will gain broad experience in educational research and assessment supporting the core mission of CIPhER. Health professions schools are uniquely positioned to examine critical educational research questions that are not only of importance to themselves, but of increasing interest and significance to larger audiences across higher education. CIPhER is committed to producing rigorous and systematic educational research that will provide insight necessary to advance strategic initiatives, improve student outcomes, enhance workforce development, and position the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy as a model of educational innovation and excellence, nationally and globally.

The CIPhER Postdoctoral Fellow will report directly to one of the core CIPhER staff: the Center Director or Associate Director – but will work closely with all CIPhER staff, fellows and associates. The appointment includes a UNC benefits package and a competitive stipend.

Education and Experience:

  • Professional Knowledge: Knowledge of research methods, including research design, data collection, analysis techniques (quantitative and/or qualitative), and interpretation of results. Ability to manage and analyze data from multiple projects and contexts. Ability to identify new research questions and inquiry opportunities, disseminate new findings to multiple stakeholders, and make recommendations for implementing improvements or changes.

  • Collaboration: Ability to apply knowledge and understanding of Center purpose, culture, issues, and work relationships within and between the School, University, and outside collaborators to promote the Center’s agenda. Ability to share perceptions, knowledge and critical thinking as needed. Ability to promote the use of best practices to achieve shared CIPhER goals.

  • Communication: Ability to communicate scholarly ideas and findings effectively in various venues, including conferences, committees, publications, and group meetings. Ability to build, maintain and enhance professional relationships to increase credibility and effectiveness of the Center. Ability to help promote and market the Center with increasing visibility as the Center continues to grow and expand. Ability to apply creativity to development of strategies and functions.
