Job Description: Financial Analyst Class No. 205 EEOC Category: Office and Clerical Pay Group: 6 FLSA: Exempt

SUMMARY OF POSITION: This role is responsible for the accurate processing and recording of financial transactions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and bi-weekly payroll. The incumbent supports the Chief Financial Officer and Accounting Manager by preparing monthly and annual financial reports, ensuring that all financial activities align with the city's approved budgets.

Key responsibilities include budget evaluation and collaboration with department heads during budget development, reconciliation of bank statements, and maintenance of ledger balances across multiple city accounts. The position also involves preparing and delivering departmental deposits, issuing accounts payable checks, performing data entry into the general ledger, and maintaining computer files with regular backups. The individual will also manage a multi-line telephone system, assist utilities and accounting clerks as needed, and perform other related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. Processes and records accounts receivable and accounts payable; 2. Processes payroll bi-weekly; 3. Assists Chief Financial Officer and Accounting Manager with preparing various monthly and annual reports on the city's financial transactions and condition for management information purposes; 4. Routinely evaluates payroll hours for department personnel budgets to ensure expenditures are in line with approved amounts; CLASS NO. 205 (Continued) 5. Collaborates with department heads during development of budgets to prepare final product to be presented to City Council, 6. Reconciles bank statements and ledger balances on multiple city accounts; 7. Prepares and delivers departmental deposits; 8. Prepares accounts payable checks and types manual payable checks; 9. Performs data entry into the general ledger; 10. Maintains computer files and records, and regularly performs computer backups; 11. Answers a multi-line telephone, directing calls to the appropriate personnel, providing information, and/or taking messages when appropriate. 12. Assists Utilities/Accounting Clerks as needed; and 13. Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of: modern office procedures and equipment; generally accepted accounting principles; and records storage, retention, and disposition laws and guidelines, especially relating to municipalities. Skill/Ability to: apply generally accepted accounting principles; understand and follow oral or written instructions; perform a volume of numerical detail work with speed and accuracy; prepare financial and other records in a systematic, neat, and legible manner; demonstrate proficiency in both oral and written communication; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co workers; and operate standard office equipment, including computer, ten key calculator, typewriter, copy machine, etc. ACCEPTABLE

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING Bachelors Degree preferred Or Two years of college coursework in accounting, records management, or a related field, plus at least one year of experience in accounting and records management, including experience in governmental accounting; or high school graduation, or its equivalent, plus at least three years of experience in ac ounting and records management, including experience in governmental accounting; CLASS NO. 205 (Continued) or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
