Mississippi Employer Animal Rescue Technician in Natchez, Mississippi

Job Summary: Under general direction of an HPR Team Lead, provides quality care for shelter and pre-transport pets. Monitors the health and well-being of shelter animals. Performs routine and technical services relating to the welfare care and well-being of the animals at the shelter.

Specific Job Duties: • Cleans kennels and surrounding work areas within the shelter in accordance with proper disease control requirements and HPR procedures. • Ensures welfare and proper care of animals within the shelter facility is maintained in all phases of shelter operation. • Prepares and administers oral medications prescribed by veterinarian. • Walks animals as scheduled. • Launders pet blankets and items • Performs routine maintenance and ground keeping duties on animal shelter facility. • Assists with animal photography as requested. • Advises Team Lead of any supplies to be ordered • Performs other duties as assigned. Skills/Qualifications: • Graduation from high school OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Must have a valid Driver License. • Must enjoy working with dogs and cats. • Able to follow oral and written instructions. • Able to humanely handle animals under various circumstances. • Able to work harmoniously with other employees and volunteers. 2 Requirements • Schedule varies. Weekend and some evening work may be required. Typically scheduled 20- 40 hours per week. • Attend regular staff meetings as scheduled • Must have valid Driver's License • Must comply with HPR's Drug Free Workplace policy • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able capable of walking dogs and frequently stoop bend and lift objects or animals of up to 50 pounds.
