Job Summary and Qualifications

The Supervisor of Facilities Management is responsible for coordinating and running daily operations of the Engineering department & physical plant. In the absence of the department Manager, this position will be required to act on the Manager’s behalf. Possess great leadership skills and must have an all-round understanding of Facilities Engineering operations. Knowledgeable in mechanical, electrical and low voltage systems. Proficient in Microsoft Office and communicates very well. Demonstrates the ability to lead by example and willing to coach and ability to mentor staff personnel in helping them to grow.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Minimum 6 months of direct hospital supervisory or equivalent leadership role

  • Degree or equivalent training in a trade/technical or vocational training required

  • Drivers License required

  • High School Graduate / GED required

What you will do in this role:

  • Assist Manager with managing daily operational tasks, scheduling, and direct supervision of mechanics on daily work assignments.

  • Schedule and prioritize in-house department and hospital-related projects.

  • Assign preventative maintenance tasks to all mechanics and supervise completion deadline.

  • Maintain proficiency in setting up work orders and PM task instructions in TMA work order system.

  • Help manage staff work schedule and schedule on-call mechanics.

  • Attend departmental specific meetings and/or in-services related to equipment safety, electrical safety, fire safety, and risk management and infection control. Attend other required meetings as requested.

  • Notify Manager and/or Director of overtime hours acquired within the bi-weekly pay period.

  • Assist Manager with maintenance of departmental personnel files. Maintain strict confidentiality of all department and hospital information.

  • Manage PM programs on all appropriate equipment. Ensure that PM is completed in timely manner.

  • Coordinate outside service and repairs on all hospital-related equipment/systems as needed. Order parts and supplies as needed for completing tasks.

  • Follow correct precautions for special purchase requests.

  • Supervise Engineering staff ensuring quality, patient safety and patient satisfaction.

  • Ensure all mechanics are following safety requirement at all times when performing daily job functions.

  • Act as a go-between for the Facilities Manager and other departments’ leadership personnel in coordinating and scheduling work requests.
