Amazon Senior Manager - Global Technology Partners, World Wide Tech Deployment (WWTD) in Nashville, Tennessee

The World-Wide Technology Deployment (WWTD) Team is seeking a manager and leader to drive the strategy and execution of our Global Partners and Vendor Management Team. We are looking for a candidate with proven experience in strategy, execution, analysis and negotiation in support of the engineering and field deployment teams we work with. This leaders will own the team’s relationships with robotics and automation installation partners as well as technology and service vendors. They will be responsible for setting and executing a vendor management strategy to drive continuous improvement by sourcing and evaluating industry-leading technical partners, while continuing to challenge our existing relationships to develop new capabilities and find new efficiencies. The Vendor Manager will also support day-to-day operations of the deployment teams, delivering innovation to minimize deployment costs and increasing the speed at which we deliver installations around the world.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and negotiation skills, superb business acumen and a capacity to dive deep to solve complex problems. Deep experience partnering with cross-functional business and technical teams is a requirement. The candidate must have the leadership presence and communication skills to effectively work with vendors at all levels of their organization. The candidate must be a self-starter and be able to execute at both a tactical and strategic level with a strong attention to detail.

Key job responsibilities

As a Manager, Technical Vendor Management you will be responsible for:

  • Managing a vendor utilization strategy, including planning, forecasting and communicating our business needs to partners, facilitating the scaling of our operations, possessing a complete understanding of internal and external variables that drive deployment success.

  • Driving negotiations with vendors to achieve consistent cost reduction while improving efficiency in addition to setting pricing strategies to accommodate new deployment models.

  • Managing the procurement, execution and performance monitoring of our technical vendors as well as innovating new vendor KPIs, performance dashboards and goals.

  • Sourcing and evaluating potential new partners to add capabilities. Generating and implementing big ideas to drive business improvements, innovation, and scale across the Deployment Engineering footprint.

  • Identifying trends and tools, both external and internal to Amazon, that are relevant to our vendor management strategy and evaluating their incorporation into existing processes.

As the leader of the Global Partners and Vendor Management team you play a critical role in positioning World-Wide Technology Deployment for success. Through your global team you are driving the full lifecycle of our Partner and Vendor relationships – starting with bid cycles, through negotiations, managing readiness, and tracking performance during delivery. You drive global standardization with the ability to recognize and adapt to regional needs. You build upon and evolve our existing relationships with these Partners and Vendors, helping to ensure we are consistently positioned to support the ever-changing technology landscape and the needs of our internal customers. You look beyond our current relationships and are able to identify emerging candidates for potential future relationships. You inspire and motivate your global team, providing a vision that not only aligns with your customers’ needs but also enables your team to grow in the process.

We deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality integrations at scale to meet emerging network and business needs. We do this by partnering with upstream and downstream customers to innovate and perform rapid experimentation. This accelerates the maturity of complex solutions throughout the product lifecycle to enable simplified execution.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience

  • 5+ years of team management experience

  • 5+ years of cross functional project delivery experience

  • 5+ years of supply chain experience

  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
