Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Summary

At HCA Healthcare, we are committed to caring for patients with purpose and integrity. We care like family! Jump-start your career as a Senior Principal Architect. This architect role will be responsible for technical vision, planning, analyzing high-level requirements, defining tech stack inclusive of software, hardware, security, reliability, and scalability aspects for products in the patient registration space.

Major Responsibilities:

• Solution Design and Architecture: Design and develop patient experience solutions that leverage technology to enhance patient interactions and satisfaction within the healthcare system. Develop high-level and detailed design specifications that cover system architecture, components, modules, and integrations. Design and document the overall software system architecture, aligning with the organization's strategic goals, scalability, performance, security, and maintainability. Develop strategies for integrating different healthcare IT systems and applications to ensure seamless data exchange and interoperability.

• Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams throughout the software development lifecycle. Mentor development teams to adhere to best practices, coding standards, and architectural principles.

• Data Privacy and Security: Ensure that patient experience solutions comply with relevant privacy and security regulations, such as HIPAA, to protect patient confidentiality and data security. Implement security measures, access controls, and encryption protocols to safeguard patient information.

• Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to understand their needs, gather requirements, and ensure that patient experience solutions meet the stakeholders’ expectations. Facilitate communication, training, and change management activities to ensure smooth adoption and utilization of the technology solutions.

• Patient Communication and Engagement: Design and implement communication platforms and tools that facilitate seamless and personalized interactions between patients and healthcare providers. This may include patient portals, secure messaging systems, telehealth solutions, and appointment scheduling tools.

• Evaluation and Innovation: Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices. Evaluate new tools, platforms, and approaches for potential implementation and recommend innovative solutions to improve patient experience and outcomes.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Proven experience as a Software Architect or a similar role, with a successful track record of designing and delivering complex software solutions

• Strong expertise in software design patterns, architectural styles, and development methodologies.

• In-depth knowledge of various programming languages, frameworks, and technologies

• Data management knowledge such as data lakes, relational and noSQL

• Familiarity with cloud computing, microservices architecture, and containerization technologies.

• Knowledge of secure design principles, secure coding practices, and security architecture patterns so that security is ingrained in the software solution from the ground up

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

• Planning and roadmap generation

• AI/ML

Preferred Skills

• Understanding of healthcare privacy and security regulations, such as HIPAA.

• Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards, such as HL7 and FHIR.

• Experience in designing and implementing patient communication platforms, patient portals, telehealth solutions, or related technologies.

• Familiarity with AI chatbots.

• Performs other duties as assigned

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field required

• Master's degree preferred

• 5+ years of experience in Solution/Software Architecture preferred

• 7+ years of experience in Software Development required

• 5+ years of experience in Healthcare preferred

• 3+ years of experience in HL7 and FHIR

Preferred

Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience

Licenses, Certifications, & Training:

• Cloud Architecture Certifications (Azure/GCP/AWS) preferred
