The Amazon SCOT organization is expanding our Vendor Integration Operations (VIO) team:

We are looking for a Systems Development Engineer to support Amazon’s Retail and Direct Fulfillment electronic integration solutions which use both EDI and API to connect Amazon to the top 20% of vendors who in total enable more than 80% of the selection for Amazon.

Key job responsibilities

The VIO Systems Development Engineer will:

  • Deliver timely, accurate and professional technical support and information relating to all of our world-wide automation solutions for both integrated vendors and those who are in progress integrating to Amazon through our Vendor Central automation workflows.

  • Coordinate large-scale communications to clients around improvements, policies, and procedures.

  • Write clear, accurate, and concise documentation for your own solutions and improve your team’s existing documentation.

  • Develop & maintain Amazon B2B/EDI specifications, mapping, and technical integration artifacts.

  • Leverage technology and innovation to bring continuous improvement to operational processes.

  • Propose and drive initiatives to improve integration technologies.

  • Own complex change management and improvement projects and programs.

  • Channel vendor feedback to product management, software development teams and leadership.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience working with XML, JSON, EDIFACT, X12 and other electronic integration message formats

  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex EDI/API failures and end-to-end business process analysis and problem solving.

  • Experience in designing & implementing API/EDI integration solutions to solve business problems

  • Experience with EDI communications standards, protocols and security: AS2, standard VAN-based EDI, FTP, SFTP, HTTPS, and Web services

  • Experience writing functional design documents and specifications, working backwards from the customer experience to propose solutions for difficult business problems.

  • Track record communicating complex issues correctly and clearly whether working with product, engineering or business teams.Experience with program/project management involving coordination across both technical and business teams.

  • History of participation in your organization’s Operational Planning process or influencing your team’s goals and programs.

  • Proven ability creating clear and concise reporting on complex subjects, developing and using relevant KPIs and metrics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail, work effectively, adjust priorities and work in a continuously changing environment.

  • Scripting experience in one or more technology.

  • Experience with rotational/follow the sun on-call duties and real-time live-system responsibility.

  • Experience with business process analytics: BI systems, analysis tools and data mining.

  • Experience with one or more of the following: networking fundamentals, security, storage or databases (relational or NoSQL), operating systems (Unix, Linux, or Windows).

  • Experience with any middleware technologies or tools like Contivo, Seeburger, Tibco, GIS, SAP PI/PO, WTX, Gentran, TLE, BizTalk etc.

  • Experience in any of the following: Cloud Architecture, Systems Design, Software Development, Infrastructure Architecture, Data Engineering or DevOps.
