Vanderbilt University Concessions Worker Lead, Seasonal in Nashville, Tennessee

The temporary/seasonal concessions lead is responsible for overseeing the activities at designated concession stands, bars, and beer kiosks usually at athletics games. Work responsibilities may differ slightly depending on the place of commission but mostly, concession stand lead duties are limited to overseeing food preparation to ensure proper food handling practices are followed and adequate production is maintained, verifying inventory levels are appropriate for each event, and picking up and delivering necessary supplies and food items to vendors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prep locations for the arrival of staff, turning on equipment, unlocking coolers, etc.

  • Participate in the set-up of concession stands, arrange inventory of supplies, and communicate shortages of deficiencies to vendors or suppliers

  • Verifying inventory before and after each event

  • Following food production sheets to ensure adequate amounts of food are made

  • Overseeing staff to be sure appropriate food handling and alcohol policies are being followed

  • Follow proper sanitation guidelines during food preparation and packing activities

    Assist customers with prices and packing options and follow instructions regarding portions and packing guidelines

  • Perform clean-up duties after each shift and ensure that concession stand is sanitized and tidied up for the next attendant.

  • Handle light bookkeeping duties by creating and maintaining reports of cash received against food and beverage items sold.

  • Clean and maintain food preparation equipment such as grills and ovens on a regular basis

    This concessions position is seasonal – for instance, these positions are needed for football, basketball and baseball games or a series of football games.

    Qualifications:

  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and evenings.

  • Ability to handle physical activities, stand and walk for long periods of time and lift weight in excess of 50 pounds.

  • Must have Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) permit or acquire it before first game.
