Description
Introduction
The Clinical Integrations team collaborates with external and internal departments for requirements definition, deployment, testing and support of clinical interface and clinical integration technology across multiple EHRs within Physician Services Group. This includes all phases of the product development lifecycle including but not limited to determining the validity of the business justification and ROI, outlining clinical workflows related to the vendor product within the EHR, testing and validating vendor products & services, determine the educational and communication strategy, leading to successful implementation and continuous support and optimization.
Job Summary and Qualifications
Major Responsibilities include:
Serves as the Clinical SME for PSG teams supporting the EMR applications
Uses clinical knowledge to ensure clinical data and processes within the Electronic Health Record comply with both external and internal requirements and standards, including any relevant legal compliance and expectations
Identifies, assesses, monitors, documents, and communicates potential quality issues in the way data is collected, stored, processed, or used
Determines root cause for data quality errors and uses clinical judgement to make recommendations for long-term solutions
Researches and determines scope and complexity of issue and identifies steps for resolution
Uses clinical and technical knowledge to bridge the gap between clinical/non-technical users and technical to resolve issues
Works in partnership with a variety of group members, both functional and technical, across HCA and other organizations to define requirements, resolve issues, and meet deadlines
Data Quality Design and Management:
Undertakes and Conducts Data Quality Management activities such as (but not limited to):
Identifies, compares, and resolves clinical data quality problems
Evaluates large dataset for quality and accuracy
Determines business and clinical impact level for data quality issues
Determines root cause for data quality errors and makes recommendations for long-term solutions
Researches and determines scope and complexity of issue so as to identify steps to fix issue
Uses Clinical judgement and critical thinking skills to develop process improvements to enhance overall data quality
Develops and executes data clean-up measures
Maintains a record of original data and corrected data
Ensures adherence to data quality standards
Resolves all internal data exceptions in timely and accurate manner
Identifies areas of improvement to achieve data quality
Analyzes, queries and manipulates data according to defined business rules and procedures
Monitors and reports on data quality assurance / production performance metrics
Data Analytics:
Understands HL7 language versions (2.3, 2.5, FHIR) and participates in troubleshooting any issues with the EHR and integrations using tools such as smart HL7 or HL7 spy
Understands data analytic tools and documentations methods
Utilizes SQL and SQL database knowledge to develop queries for data and be able to validate if the query was successful in pulling the correct data
Applies clinical knowledge and judgement in analysis and presentation of clinical data
Strategic Relationships:
Suggests and participates in IT projects, offering skills and insights in an effort to bring value to the organization by leveraging our technological and reporting infrastructure
Responsible for working with internal customers, external customers and vendors to ensure timely resolution of data issues and problems
Learns, understands, and identifies problems and recognizes core issues within the Electronic Health Record and vendor integration
Coordinates with other clinical teams to establish and support processes necessary to ensure data integrity within and across multiple EHRs and other clinical information systems or applications
Maintains ongoing positive relationships with vendor and internal teams
Qualifications:
4+ years’ experience in health information systems
3+ years’ clinical healthcare experience
3+ years’ experience in developing a broad set of technical skills in HL7, Secure File Transfer, API, FHIR, SQL, or other integration systems
Associate of Science in Nursing required
Masters of Science degree (Preferred Health Information System or Informatics)
Registered Nurse License required
Informatics Certification (Preferred)
IQCP, CIMP, ISO 8000 Certification (Preferred)
