Amazon BI Engineer II - DataTech, OTS in Nashville, Tennessee

Description

Operations Technology Solutions (OTS) DataTech team is looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer to join our team. The BI Engineer is expected to drive the analytics front of our key business projects, come up with insights on key metrics, engage with stakeholders to earn trust and merge data intelligence efforts centrally.

The right candidate will be working with large datasets, data visualization, automation and will enable bringing data forward to answer complex business questions that deepen our knowledge of our business drivers.

This role requires someone with excellent team leadership and communication skills, data modeling skills, and the ability to work across teams including Data Science, Software Dev, Product Management, Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Marketing and Finance to drive business outcomes.

Key job responsibilities

• Design, development and ongoing operations of scalable, performant data warehouse (Redshift) tables, data pipelines, reports and dashboards.

• Development of moderately to highly complex data processing jobs using appropriate technologies (e.g. SQL, Python, Spark, AWS Lambda, etc.)

• Development of dashboards and reports.

• Collaborating with stakeholders to understand business domains, requirements, and expectations. Additionally, working with owners of data source systems to gain insights into capabilities and limitations.

• Deliver minimally to moderately complex data analysis;

• Manage the timeline and deliverables of projects, anticipate risks and resolve issues.

• Adopt best practices in reporting: data integrity, test design, validation, and documentation.

• Have knowledge of AI (Artificial Intelligence) /ML (Machine Learning) and other industry solutions in this space to know when to apply what to solve business problems.

• Have proven track record of launching new products, solutions and managing projects end to end.

• Excellence verbal and written communication skills.

• Comfortable wearing multiple hats and go over and above to drive results.

A day in the life

• Interface with technical and non-technical customers delivering complete BI solutions.

• Build a data structure and reporting process by working through various business parameters, which establish truth in data.

• Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions.

• Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.

• Build knowledge of latest technologies, tools, methodologies, and best practices and distill that information across the analytics organization.

• Gather insights from customers and operations teams, make recommendations, and help leaders across OTS organization make key business decisions.

• Design and conduct experiments on the effectiveness and efficiency of different initiatives to improve key output metrics and help shape the long-term strategy.

About the team

OpsTech Solutions DataTech team is based out of Austin and Nashville. We are composed of Data Engineers, BI Engineers, and Data Science aimed at further enabling broader OTS deliverables. We strive to partner with our customers and collaborate to enable our Data as a Product Strategy providing the thousands of customers with business driven insights and capabilities.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Nashville, TN, USA

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience

  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

  • Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab

  • Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift

  • Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
