Job Summary:

The Advanced Practice Team Leader has responsibility for administrative, clinical and human resource activities in conjunction with the designated Advanced Practice Registered Nurses and Physician Assistants. This role includes clinical practice, and administrative duties, such as assisting with program development, personnel supervision, management (performance feedback, etc.), quality data and outcome based performance initiatives. Leads advanced practice team, has direct reports, usually team size is less than 20 Advanced Practice Registered nurses and Physician Assistants.

Department Summary

Our division cares for critically ill infants and children from birth through adolescence in two locations. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) serves children with primary medical conditions or following surgical procedures performed by a variety of groups including: Pediatric Surgery (including trauma), Neurosurgery, Otolaryngology and others. We are committed to excellence in patient care, research, and in the training of the next generation of intensive care physicians. Our faculty members work collaboratively with pediatric specialists throughout Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt (Monroe Carell) to provide a highly coordinated approach to caring for critically ill children.

The PICU is a 42-bed unit that provides highly specialized care for critically ill children. Monroe Carell is a major referral center for various pediatric subspecialties including trauma, organ transplantation and burns. Our division is also proud to be associated with Vanderbilt LifeFlight, one of the highest-rated and busiest critical care air medical transport services in the country. LifeFlight has a dedicated helipad on the roof of Monroe Carell.

• Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care (CPNP-AC) or Physician Assistant

• 3 Years APP Experience Required

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Clinical expertise: Demonstrates experience and effectiveness as practicing clinician.

• Management experience: Demonstrates ability as an administrative liaison between the advanced practice provider team, the division/department. Assists in maintaining quality and regulatory standards. The advanced practice provider team leader will practice in an advanced role, coordinating the delivery of high quality, family centered and developmentally appropriate patient care.
