Summary

  • Unloads into proper storage area all bulk, liquid and micro ingredients from trucks and rail cars.

  • Samples all ingredients before unloading.

  • Checks and verifies lot numbers on micro ingredients before unloading.

  • Keeps related areas clean at all times.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Makes sure trucks are weighed in before unloading and weighed out prior to releasing; record receiving on appropriate forms, ensuring samples are pulled off each ingredient and properly labeled.

  • Inspects all incoming loads of ingredients to determine if company standards are met as well as facilitate unloading by occasionally using a 15 1b. sledge hammer to remove ingredients.

  • Makes inventory checks on all raw materials bins to be reported to, appropriate supervisor.

  • Directs all raw material to proper bins/tanks according to assigned receptacle.

  • Sweeps and shovels receiving area between deliveries-to maintain. cleanliness and to avoid ingredient contamination.

  • Assists with general mill housekeeping when time permits or assigned by Mill Manager.

  • Manually operates rail car pullers in a safe manner.

  • Assists in loading of feed trucks and feed manufacturing when needed.

Minimum Education

High School diploma or equivalent preferred

Experience Requirements

  • Reading, writing, and math skills.

Experience Preferred

  • Mechanical background

  • Ability to operate forklift

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to swing 15 lb sledgehammer.

  • Exposed to all seasonal weather conditions.

  • Ability to work in significant amounts of air borne dust and sustained noise levels > 85 db.

  • Must wear personal protective equipment.

  • Must be able to climb heights to 120 feet.

  • Must use required protection when maneuvering on feed truck & rail cars.
