Providence Director Hospice RN in Napa, California

THE ROLE

The Director of Hospice is responsible for the day-to-day clinical management of St. Joseph Home Care Services-Hospice and Collabria Care Hospice and for the effective and efficient use of all resources in carrying out the organization's purposes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Directs the hospice program through management of Clinical Managers and support staff according to their abilities and defined responsibilities.

  • Manages program administration, planning, supervision and evaluation.

  • Manages day-to-day compliance with regulatory and reimbursement requirements as defined by the Medicare COPs, State, Medicare and The Joint Commission requirements.

  • Participates in the development and implementation of administrative policies.

  • Establishes functions and qualifications for all personnel in collaboration with the Executive Director.

  • Determines clinical staffing needs and staffing patterns according to program requirements and with consideration for utilization of personnel at their maximum potential.

  • Authorizes appointments of staff positions consistent with network policy and approval of Senior Executive Director.

  • Oversees compliance with clinical resource policies.

  • Responsible for stewardship of resources and meeting Board approved budget.

  • Represents Northern California hospice services (St. Joseph Home Care and Collabria Care) to the community and Hospitals as requested or as necessary to nurture and maintain a collaborative working relationship.

  • Managing, directing and supervising patient care activities.

  • Responsible for physician, staff and patient satisfaction.

  • Participates in student intern programs in collaboration with contracted colleges or certificate programs if staffing available.

  • Participates as a member of the Executive Management Team for Northern California hospice Services; completes assigned projects and promotes team cohesion and teamwork within the group.

  • Works collaboratively with the quality team to establish the QA/PI program within the hospice department and collaborates with Clinical Managers in the development of in-services and educational experiences for performance improvement.

  • Participates in palliative care activities within the Northern California hospice services, system hospitals and the community.

  • Develops and is held accountable for departmental strategic goals and service line development.

  • Responsible for the development and management of the clinical care delivery process, clinical practice and policy and procedures. Annually completes Compliance Education and understands applicable policies.

  • Participates in network, community and national education programs as appropriate.

  • Participates in Health System Ethics Committee .

  • Oversight of donations made to Hospice.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Healthcare or related field; or equivalent educ/experience

  • Master's Degree in Business, Healthcare or related field (preferred)

  • Upon hire: California Registered Nurse License (Vendor Managed)

  • Upon hire: Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN) (preferred)

  • 3 years of supervisory experience in a home health agency, hospice or related health program

  • 2 years of RN experience in Hospice

  • Director of Hospice experience (preferred)

  • Ability in program administration, including knowledge of healthcare policies and reimbursement practices

  • Demonstrated excellence in managing human resources

  • Demonstrated excellence in both written and oral communication

  • Knowledge of federal, state and The Joint Commission regulations.
