Come join a great team at State Hospital West (SHW)! We are seeking aSocial Services Directorfor SHW located in Nampa. SHW is a 16-bed Adolescent Psychiatric Treatment Hospital (for adolescents between 11 and 18 years old) nestled between Ridgecrest and Centennial golf courses on a picturesque piece of state property along the Nampa Interstate 84 corridor. SHW provides psychiatric inpatient treatment care for Idaho’s adolescent citizens with the most serious and persistent mental illnesses. The hospital works in partnership with families and communities to enable clients to return to community living and is accredited by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations and certified by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

This position also requires applicants to become certified in CPR and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.

    EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  • Establish standards of care consistent with professional practices, laws, court decisions and licensure requirements.

  • Functions as a program lead for an assigned treatment unit with typical responsibilities to include program development, implementation, operation, and supervision of assigned clinical staff.

  • Reports findings and testifies to patients' mental status.

  • Consult with other professionals regarding clients' physical disabilities.

  • Obtain medical/social/educational histories through interviews or review of case records.

  • Analyze and interpret assessment results.

  • Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team to evaluate, diagnose, and plan developmental or rehabilitative treatment for clients.

  • Document treatment and prepares reports.

  • Coordinate treatment with other providers.

  • Evaluate clients' needs for further treatment.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position.   • Licensure as a certified Master's Level Social Working in Idaho in accordance with Idaho Code 54-3206.Licensure must be obtained prior to appointment.

  • Considerable knowledge of mental health disorders and their required treatment and rehabilitation, their etiology and basic diagnostic and assessment methods. Typically gained by a degree in social work ORfour years of work experience performing these duties.

  • Considerable knowledge interpreting and applying complex state and federal laws, regulations, policies, and procedures related to civil commitment, facility licensure requirements, professional standards of practice and accreditation requirements. Typically gained by a degree in social work or closely related field ORfour years of work experience performing these duties.

  • Good knowledge of community mental health models of service delivery necessary to provide appropriate levels of care and treatment as an alternative to hospitalization. Typically gained by at least one year of experience in community mental health.

  • Good knowledge of management principles and practices.Typically gained by completion of two classes of upper division college-level coursework equivalent to "Management and Organizational Theory" and "Personnel or Human Resource Administration" that covered all the essential elements of managementORby at least one year's experience in a job situation with responsibility for all the essential elements of management or advising management in all five areas.

  • Experience planning, coordinating, and evaluating social service treatment programs for the mentally ill in an inpatient setting.Typically gained by at least one year of experience with inpatient services with the mentally ill.

  • Experience analyzing and solving complex system, service, and legal issues affecting mentally ill in an inpatient setting. Typically gained by at least one year of experience with inpatient services with the mentally ill.
