Description:

Position Title: Emergency Management Coordinator

Position Purpose:

Follows established procedural guidelines to provide a safe and secure environment for staff, patients and visitors. Under general direction, performs administrative and technical work to support the development, implementation and coordination of the Hospital’s Emergency Management Program; coordinates and acts as liaison for the region's disaster recovery efforts; and oversees disaster training, exercises and public awareness programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, Public Safety, Public Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience

  • Valid State of Michigan Driver’s license

  • Three years of experience in disaster and emergency planning preferred

  • Skill in managing and coordinating disaster recovery operations

  • Ability to analyze information under emergency operating conditions and direct the course of action to be taken

What you will do:

  • Coordinates and implements the Mercy Health Emergency Preparedness Program.

  • Maintains and keeps current the institution's Emergency Operation Plan (EOP), Hazard Vulnerability Analysis (HVA) and all related preparedness policies, procedures and guidelines.

  • Ensures that the EOP and relevant preparedness materials are reported to and reviewed annually by Emergency Preparedness leadership, the Environment of Care Safety Committee and other appropriate leadership.

  • Participates in local, regional and state Emergency Preparedness committees, coalitions and activities as directed (e.g., Region 6 Healthcare Coalition).

  • Develops and prepares required documentation to fulfill requirements related to education, exercises, equipment and grants.

  • Organizes, coordinates and implements periodic preparedness exercises and drills.

  • Uses FEMA guidelines, templates and tools to plan, conduct, evaluate and document drills and exercises for process improvement.
