Honeywell Chemical Operator - Level 2 in Muskegon, Michigan

This role is for a chemical operator position at the Muskegon Michigan Research Chemical site. This position may be on first, second, or third shift (8 hours), M-F with overtime as required by the business.

Key Responsibilities

Safely perform required tasks efficiently by following standard operating and job safety analysis procedures.

Perform combination of manual and/or automated tasks necessary to efficiently package finished product into containers of various sizes.

Perform a variety of tasks in a fast-paced chemical environment, that include- counts & weights against documents, handling and packaging of various chemicals, maintaining area cleanliness.

Ability to lift up to 35lbs.

Safe handling of hazardous chemicals.

Ability to wear a full-face respirator while climbing stairs and ladders as well as understanding per OSHA guidelines (facial hair is not permitted).

Must be able to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd Shifts

Will need to take and display ownership and sense of urgency in meeting the department daily objectives.

Learn & perform all operations involved with prepping, sampling and packaging of products.

Operate in a manner to meet Honeywell safety goals.

Adhering to all site and departmental HS&E policies and procedures.

Developing the ability to recognize hazards and learn the 4 critical errors to avoid putting yourself in harm’s way.

Supporting the Safety Structure Process by completing APT’s (Accident Projection Technique), JSA’s (Job Safety Analysis),

Safety Inspections, TSO’s (Task Safety Observations), and What If drills as assigned.

Utilizing the “Safety Stop” procedure if a job cannot be started and/or completed safety.

Responding to safety incidents per site and department procedures (Requires being able to wear the SCBA (Self

Contained Breathing Apparatus) for certain situations).

Manage hazardous waste in a manner to meet site and departmental procedures and to maintain regulatory compliance.

Keep proper, accurate, legible, neat and up-to-date records.

Utilize the “Q-Stop”/Non-conforming process if a quality defect is suspected or identified.

Promote, participate in and support Honeywell Operating System (HOS) by:

Actively participating in the continuous improvement process (Kaizen/PDCA).

Developing the ability to conduct/complete Rapid Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis.

Utilizing the visual management boards and escalation process per standard work.

Being engaged in the Tier and PDCA meetings.

Position Responsibilities:

Operates hand or power tools, forklifts, computers, and production equipment.

Performs team duties that may include managing meetings, communicating with other teams or individuals, managing documentation, records, and scheduling personnel.

Is responsible for maintaining Safety, Environmental Quality, Product Quality, Productivity, and Inventory accuracy for their area.

Arrange, load, move, package, handle, transfer, label, sample, and document process materials.

Set up, adjust, clean, take apart, put together, or perform minor maintenance, on machines, or equipment.

Verifies equipment, or areas, are safe for normal use, hazardous work, servicing, or maintenance.

Monitors and controls processes using visual observation, process data, and on-line testing.

Identifies and troubleshoots problems in processes, products, or equipment, and work for a solution.

Gathers, maintains records, and uses statistical control charts.

May generate, handle, transfer, move, drum, label, sample, and document waste.

May prepare, load, move, and unload various materials.

Reasoning ability - Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions.

Performs tasks assigned to operations.

Ensures operational activities and process performance are aligned with business and unit goals.

Coaches and trains others on plant operations.

Willing to work shift work including weekends

1+ years’ previous work experience in a chemical environment

Self-motivated with ability to manage multiple demands

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Basic computer skills
