A Brief Overview

Responsible for working as part of the clinical team, following leadership orders for care of patients and related medical and clerical support functions. These support functions will vary but will include accompanying patients to exam rooms, preparing patients for exams, performing and documenting vital signs, assisting with procedures, preparing and administering medications with physician's authorization, performing EKGs, using CPR skills when required, drawing blood, and providing patient education with regards to office policies, medication, and management of disease, home treatments, and special diets. Other duties may include retrieval of lab and x-ray reports, calling in prescriptions, telephone triage, obtaining referrals and authorizations, completing medical forms and other duties as assigned. Responsible for ordering medical and office supplies, stocking exam rooms, cleaning rooms, cleaning instruments, disposing of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards, and performing accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times, and adhering to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required

Experience Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years in a physician office setting Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Computer knowledge, required.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to multi-task, required.

  • Phlebotomy skills and experience, preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant - National Healthcareer Association Required or

  • Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants Required or

  • Medical Assistant - American Medical Technologist Required or

  • National Certified Medical Assistant - National Center for Competency Testing Required

  • Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association Required

Light Physical Agility Test (PAT) Rating
