Intermountain Health Senior Medical Director, Ambulatory Quality in Murray, Utah

Job Description:

The Senior Medical Director-Ambulatory Quality is a leader in Clinical Excellence supporting clinical and operational leaders at the system, region, market, and care site level. Enterprise scope may include Intermountain Health clinical functions including clinical programs, service lines, shared services, medical group, acute and ambulatory care sites, following a system led, locally deployed support model. The Senior Medical Director supports strategy and execution aligned with the Clinical Excellence leadership team to drive overarching strategies that support the delivery of highly reliable care that is safe, timely, effective, efficient, patient-centered, and equitable.

The Senior Medical Director, Ambulatory Quality is a physician leader will report directly to the Chief Quality and Safety Officer. The Senior Medical Director will be responsible for advancing the vision of top decile ambulatory quality outcomes through proactive care models.

Job Essentials

Development and advancement of ambulatory quality measurement strategy for primary and specialty care

Partnering with leaders and physicians throughout the organization on ambulatory quality improvement strategies, Service as a content matter expert and liaison for ambulatory quality matters with stakeholders in DTS/EPIC, Castell, Select Health, Trinsic and external payor programs.

Minimum Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O degree. Education must be obtained through an accredited institution and will be verified.

  • Active Medical Licensure, or in process of obtaining licensure.

  • Demonstrated clinical experience in primary and/or specialty ambulatory care.

  • Demonstrated experience working with payors and informatics.

  • Excellent consulting skills demonstrated success in leading by influence.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and to varying levels in the organization is critical to success.

  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate interdisciplinary teams and to develop effective relationships with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Progressive leadership experience, such as medical directorship, medical staff leadership, or program leadership

  • Proven experience to drive system change.

  • Proven experience or certification in improvement science

  • Master’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Public Health or a related field

  • Experience working in a complex health system.

  • Experience with external entities that drive and support Ambulatory approaches and standards, including government agencies, and other organizations (NCQA, NQF, etc)
