Intermountain Health Accountant I OR Accounting Specialist IV in Murray, Utah

Job Description:

This position safeguards Intermountain Healthcare's assets through monthly accounting operations and internal controls, and ensures accurate and compliant financial reporting. Initial duties are performed under close supervision; thereafter, routine tasks are completed with general review. Non-routine tasks are closely supervised.

This position will require training in office for 2 weeks. Remote is an option after training to local Utah applicants only.

Schedule Monday - Friday 8 am - 4:30 pm

This position may provide support to a facility, region, or division, or work as part of a system-wide team.

  • Supports the safeguarding of assets and reinforcing accounting policies and procedures.

  • Prepares journal entries and reviews accounting classification in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Assists in the month-end close, including the review of financial statements. Understands and explains variances to budget.

  • Reconciles, analyzes, and reviews revenues, expenses and balance sheet accounts.

  • Generates ad hoc accounting reports as needed.

  • Provides accounting support to internal and external customers.

  • Accountable for timely and accurate completion of assigned tasks.

  • May assist with preparation of audit schedules.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.

  • Note: There are some employees without a degree in this job because they have been grandfathered as of 2006.

Accounting Specialist IV Pay Range - 23.30 - 35.48

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of three years of college courses towards a degree in accounting, finance, or business related field (economics, statistics, or mathematics). College courses must be completed through an accredited institution. Education is verified. - OR - Seven years of accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll or reimbursement experience. (Work experience must match area of specific position). - OR - Six years of related Intermountain work experience. (Work experience must match areas of specific position).

  • Demonstrated experience in financial accounting systems and processes, such as payroll, accounts payable, cash controls, charge master, accounts receivable, or budget applications.

  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.

  • Computer experience using word processing, spreadsheet, internet and e-mail, etc.

  • Demonstrated Basic Keyboarding and 10-Key by touch.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Interact with others requiring the employee to communicate information

  • Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.

  • See and read computer monitors and documents.

  • Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$26.84 - $42.28
