Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to manage and engineer large and complex projects. You will apply your knowledge of engineering principles and practices to evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques and procedures to various projects. You will coordinate all aspects and phases of the project between the Architect, Owner, and Engineering Departments.
Responsibilities
Consult with project principals to determine requirements for project set-up and staff assignments, and manage/organize the project kick-off meetings.
Prepare and maintain timelines and schedules for the project through negotiation with architect, owner, and engineering departments.
Compile and analyze project information to begin coordinating and scheduling with the engineering and technical services departments.
Distribute design information, meeting notes, schedules, etc. to the design team.
Manage the flow and progress of the project through the engineering departments, overseeing both design and construction phases.
Monitor the progress of projects to ensure timely completion.
Maintain contact with clients periodically during design and construction to verify project schedules, scope, and general conformance to client’s expectations.
Review plans and specifications for office quality standards, conformance to scope of work, design criteria, and general coordination issues. Manage the overall review process.
Attend and manage design and construction phase meetings with clients. Schedule necessary in-progress meetings with the design team, architect, and owner.
Communicate with the architect and owner after project completion to determine client satisfaction with engineering designs.
Coordinate with the marketing department to obtain marketing information/photographs of the project.
Compile project information and analyze data to begin the engineering process.
Coordinate the project’s design and engineering requirements with the project engineering and design engineering departments.
Monitor the progress of engineering to ensure timely completion within budgeted hours.
Conduct engineering surveys, research, and code analysis/interpretation.
Prepare engineering calculations and energy simulations.
Select and specify systems and equipment.
Prepare engineering contract documents (plans and specifications).
Perform construction administration tasks including reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFI’s, conducting site observation visits, preparing field reports, and attending construction meetings.
Assist project principals in preparation and follow-up of project proposals.
Assist in training new and existing employees.
Manage the progress and priorities of assigned projects based on knowledge of current project priorities.
Complete time sheets on schedule.
Assist in the continual development of department, office, and design standards.
Maintain a program of continual education and professional development, including education for improvement of general engineering knowledge, leading to Professional Engineering Licensure, and sustainable organization certifications. Attend lunch and learn presentations regularly.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in design, AutoCAD, Revit, mechanical design, and drafting.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
7-10 years of experience.
Revit experience.
Building design experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in preparing engineering calculations and energy simulations.
Ability to conduct engineering surveys, research, and code analysis/interpretation.
Work Environment
The role for candidates with 0-3 years of experience requires being in the office five days a week. Candidates with 7-10 years of experience can work in a hybrid model, being in the office on Mondays and Thursdays, with one additional day of their choice. We offer annual bonuses, profit sharing, 401K, and three weeks of PTO for entry-level employees, with the potential to earn more as tenure increases. Our projects span various sectors, including K-12 education, healthcare, religious institutions, multi-family housing, and commercial projects.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.
