Honeywell is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer II based in Muncie, Indiana.

The Mechanical Design Engineer II is responsible for providing all Engineered-to-Order mechanical engineering/design aspects of the assigned combustion projects involving fuel skid design and air heater chamber design to be used with Honeywell burner products within our Complete Combustion Solutions (CCS) engineered systems group. CCS provides turn-key combustion solutions for new or existing applications in a wide range of industrial and commercial markets. Key activities of the role include pressure regulator sizing, blower sizing, and specifying components for fuel fired combustion systems.

You will interact with the Purchasing and Fabrication teams to ensure on time delivery of high-quality performance combustion systems for various customer applications across multiple business markets. You will work with multiple computer software platforms to load, modify, and maintain bills of material, project time routings, and engineering drawings. You will also be a point of contact for all questions, issues, and continuous improvement efforts that are mechanical in nature for the assigned engineering and manufacturing facilities.

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of assigned projects and manage resolution of day-to-day technical and project issues with ISC/shop personnel, Engineering, Finance, Sales, Business, and 3rd Party Fabricators and subcontractors, as needed.

  • Provide Mechanical Engineering technical leadership to CCS during the project development, execution, and post-shipment phases.

  • Responsible to meet/exceed KPI targets including OTTR (on-time deliveries).

  • Manage and coordinate projects using the CAD design skills in the Global Engineering Service (GES) Centers.

  • Support review of project specifications and requirements during the project development phase prior to the successful sale of a project.

  • Lead (as needed) development of technical solutions for combustion systems during execution phase or at the site (i.e. post-shipment).

You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.

  • Minimum of 3-10 years of engineering and/or project management related experience.

  • 3-10 years’ experience in utilizing CAD software tools.

  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and abroad for customer, vendor, and internal meetings as needed (minimal travel expected).

We Value:

  • Interest in fluid dynamics, heat and mass transfer.

  • Experience with SAP BRP business system software knowledge is a plus.

  • Autodesk Inventor design experience.

  • Knowledge of industrial piping systems and manufacturing.

  • Visual Basic scripting or similar Excel, Access, experience is a plus.

  • Familiarity of piping codes for Natural Gas systems like NFPA 86, ASME B31.1, and ASME B31.3.

  • Experience with natural gas handling; sensors, fittings, regulators.

  • Experience with combustion equipment and systems.

  • Strong familiarity with project scheduling.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Microsoft Teams experience.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to learn complex information and explain the details to a variety of audiences.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
