As the Director of Talent Acquisition for the Asia Pacific (APAC) region at Medtronic , you will lead a team of skilled talent acquisition professionals across diverse locations, shaping and executing a robust talent acquisition strategy finely tuned to the intricacies of the APAC landscape. The successful applicant's role is pivotal. You'll spearhead exceptional talent acquisition strategies and drive the evolution of our APAC talent acquisition operations, embarking on a multi-year transformation journey. Collaborating extensively across the Medtronic network, you'll craft and deploy world-class solutions that resonate deeply with candidates and internal stakeholders. This role will be based in Mumbai or Delhi, India.

A Day in the Life

Reporting to the Senior Talent Acquisition Director, Global Regions and Outside of US (OUS) Delivery.

The successful applicant will:

  • Develop and implement strategic talent acquisition plans: Formulate and execute comprehensive strategies to attract top-tier talent across various functions and countries within the APAC region. Ensure these strategies are closely aligned with the overall business goals and growth objectives.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership and hiring managers: Partner with senior leadership and hiring managers to align talent acquisition strategies with current and future business needs, covering recruitment for all levels, from Early Career to Executive, ensuring a consistent and effective approach.

  • Deliver market insights and talent landscape expertise: Provide in-depth knowledge of market trends and talent demands to guide recruitment strategies. Support growth plans and forecasts by leveraging these insights to attract and retain top talent.

  • Lead employer branding initiatives: Spearhead recruitment marketing programs to position Medtronic as an employer of choice in APAC. Work closely with Internal Communication/Brand teams and Global Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (GIDE) teams to ensure alignment with corporate frameworks.

  • Cultivate external partnerships: Build and maintain strong relationships with universities, industry networks, and other external partners. Enhance our employer brand and attract passive candidates through these strategic partnerships.

  • Leverage Data-Driven Insights: Optimize talent acquisition strategies by evaluating key metrics such as applicant quality, diversity, time-to-fill, hiring manager/candidate satisfaction, and cost per hire. Develop and implement continuous improvement plans informed by data analysis. Foster accountability among all team members through data-driven decision-making.

  • Stay abreast of market trends: Drive innovation and optimize talent acquisition processes by keeping up to date with market trends. Ensure alignment with global standards, systems, and policies to maintain a competitive edge.

  • Enhance talent acquisition processes and technology: Champion the adoption of global talent acquisition processes and technology to drive efficiencies in the APAC region. Ensure these processes are sensitively aligned to local country requirements while maintaining global standards.

  • Drive continuous improvement and growth initiatives: Spearhead projects aimed at enhancing operational excellence and fiscal responsibility. Represent talent acquisition in mergers and acquisitions, as well as the development of new and expansion projects within the region, ensuring seamless integration and successful growth.

  • Mentor and lead the talent acquisition team: Foster a high-performing, collaborative, and development-oriented culture within the talent acquisition team. Provide strategic leadership and management, including forecasting resource needs, recruiting, hiring, performance management, training, and budgeting.

  • Ensure compliance: Uphold compliance with employment laws and ethical standards in all talent acquisition activities across the APAC region. Implement best practices to ensure the highest levels of integrity and fairness in recruitment processes.

  • Promote the Medtronic Mindset: Foster a culture of inclusivity and respect, promoting the Medtronic Mindset and leadership commitments among all team members. Encourage behaviors and practices that align with Medtronic's core values and objectives.

Must-Have: Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 18+ years of experience, or an Advanced Degree with 10+ of experience, in hands-on recruitment and talent acquisition strategy implementation across multiple locations in the APAC region.

Leadership:

  • Minimum of 8+ years experience in a leadership role, managing remote, globally dispersed teams.

  • Proven track record of leading people managers to achieve strategic business outcomes within a complex and dynamic organization.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proven experience in partnering with and influencing senior leaders, able to proactively manage multiple stakeholders with diverse needs.

  • Exceptional interpersonal, collaboration, communication, and relationship-building skills.

  • Capacity to work efficiently across the breadth and depth of a global matrix organization.

  • Proven track record in developing and leading diverse, high-performing talent acquisition teams across multiple time zones in culturally diverse environments.

  • Health Sciences sector experience is highly regarded.

Nice to Have:

  • Proficient in operating within a hybrid talent acquisition delivery model, including experience in vendor management(RPO).

  • Extensive experience in leading talent acquisition transformation programs and managing large-scale projects.

  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and present data effectively to business partners.

  • Experienced in utilizing large ATS and CRMs, preferably Workday, along with proficiency in various talent acquisition technologies.

  • Expertise in designing omni-channel sourcing strategies encompassing career websites, professional and social media platforms, employee referrals, and job boards.

  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with a demonstrated ability to manage complex budgets and optimize resource allocation.

  • Adaptable and skilled in navigating change, guiding talent acquisition teams through continuous transformation.

  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to follow-through and execution; results-driven, resourceful, and possessing a robust work ethic.
