Under general supervision, installs, maintains and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures for the manufacturing facilities. Follows blueprints, manuals and schematic drawings in the performance of these duties. Perform general diagnosis and troubleshooting for equipment to maintain production levels throughout the facilities.

Position Summary

The Warehouse Supervisor will be a hands-on contributor to the success of the materials group. They will have a direct impact on developing and driving best in class inventory management processes. Responsibilities will include leading teams toward common goals, developing and deploy standardized processes, use data to track results and problem solve. They will play a key role in the plant's inventory accuracy by leading our cycle counting process. The Warehouse Supervisor will direct the team of material handlers tasked to optimize inventory, space, and outbound shipments. This position requires the ability to communicate effectively with the highest emphasis on responsiveness and leadership. In essence, they must own every piece of material entering and leaving the building and be able to locate it at any time. The Warehouse Supervisor will report to the Director of Materials.

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Coordinates and oversees all cycle count activities.

  • Analyze and investigate inventory discrepancies for the root cause to ensure the issue from happening again.

  • Retain cycle count documentation and records of inventory system transactions.

  • Aid in changing and maintaining cycle count and inventory control related procedures.

  • Communicates with department managers and line supervisors as to the status of materials on a daily basis.

  • Monitor product/material velocity and adjust warehouse space and locations accordingly.

  • Resolves inventory issues and works with the Production Planner to make corrections to work orders in a timely manner.

  • Studies receipts, shipments, and all material movement to ensure seamless and accurate flow of product.

  • Utilizes lean manufacturing tools to eliminate waste in material movement and storage in the plant.

  • Ensures all material is stored in a safe and organized fashion while maintaining FIFO methodology.

  • Responsible for the motivation and development of a crew of material handlers to optimize their performance and their personal and professional growth.

  • Responsible for accurate receipts of goods into the building.

  • Assists and collaborates with the Director of Materials and members of accounting with inventory-related issues.

  • Responsible for accurate shipments of goods out of the building

  • Work with Director of Materials to maximize "One Touch" material solutions with suppliers via returnable containers or racking

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's)

  • Possess excellent communication skills

  • Develop and present ideas and findings to peers and senior management levels

  • Computer Skills: Proficiency with Excel, Word required and JDEdwards preferred

  • Experience and or knowledge of Lean Principles preferred

  • Experience with "point of use" inventory, working in a team environment, the use of "pull" systems and new product development processes

  • Must be a strong leader and have great motivational skills, self-driven, work collaboratively, respectful, keeps a professional demeanor, and capable of managing conflict and avoiding it

  • Must be a results-oriented individual with a clear focus on business and profitability

  • Must be hands on and willing to help out the shop floor team when required

  • A natural forward planner who critically assesses their own performance

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in the materials/warehouse field required.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role.

  • Must have experience with Cycle Counting programs and methodologies.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work extended hours when required

  • Travel is minimal
