As the Engineering Manager supporting the Enterprise Delivery Services (EDS) team, you are responsible for overseeing and optimizing the engineering systems and processes within the organization, with a strong focus on Azure Cloud and hybrid environments. This role involves managing the integration of new technologies, ensuring the efficiency of engineering operations, and leading a team of engineers and technical staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, project management, systems integration, and extensive experience with Azure Cloud and Azure DevOps.

This is a hybrid position with onsite days required at our Mountlake Terrace, WA campus.

What you’ll do:

  1. System Management and Optimization:
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of engineering systems with a focus on Azure Cloud and hybrid environments.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance system efficiency and performance.

  • Ensure systems are scalable and adaptable to meet future business needs.

  1. Azure DevOps:
  • Utilize Azure DevOps for continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.

  • Manage version control, project tracking, and release management using Azure DevOps tools.

  • Provide guidance on best practices for using Azure DevOps within the engineering team.

  • Should be familiar with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and DevOps tooling like SonarQube, Mend, Snyk, JFRog Artifactory and X-ray.

  1. Project Management:
  • Lead and manage engineering projects from conception to completion.

  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets.

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones are met.

  • Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders.

  1. Team Leadership:
  • Supervise and mentor a team of engineers and technical staff.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities.

  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.

  1. Technical Expertise and Support:
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues related to Azure Cloud and hybrid environments.

  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, particularly in cloud computing and DevOps.

  • Set up and drive On-call for the team and be part of it to support other teams.

  1. Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other departments, including IT, cyber, product development, and operations, to ensure seamless integration of systems.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand their needs and provide solutions.

8.Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensure all engineering systems comply with relevant standards and regulations.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of systems, processes, and changes.

  • Own controls and policies across Premera that should comply with HIPAA and HITRUST and represent Premera in audits (both external and internal).

  • Perform other duties as assigned

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related field or 4 years’ experience in IT (Required)

  • 6 years’ experience in information technology, application development, system administration/engineering, or systems development which includes previous program or team leadership experience (Required)

  • Extensive experience with Azure Cloud, hybrid environments, and Azure DevOps.

  • Strong project management skills, with a track record of successfully leading projects.

  • Proficiency in engineering software and tools.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with GitHub Copilot and familiar with DevSecOps best practices

  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and practices.

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.

National Salary Range:

$112,900.00 - $191,900.00

National Plus Salary Range:

$128,700.00 - $218,800.00

*National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska .
