Google Senior Director, Strategy and Analytics, Google Play in Mountain View, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 18 years of data science or analytics experience in technical organizations and experience in online marketplaces.

  • 10 years of experience leading and growing teams within strategy, data science, or analytics functions.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree.

  • Experience working across Software Engineering, Product Management, and User Experience Design/Research teams, to frame and interpret sophisticated analyses to inform product, marketing, or business strategy.

  • Experience in a role that combines complex analysis along with regular executive communications of key insights and recommendations.

  • Solid problem solving and strategy skills, including expansive opportunity identification, data-driven segmentation, and framing of complex/ambiguous problems.

The Google Play Commercial Operations organization is responsible for differentiating and deepening the connection with Google Play users by identifying data and insights that guide continuous improvement in the reach, relevance, and quality of Google Play.

As the Strategy and Analytics Senior Director, you will help to shape the future of the Google Play Store by leading an organization that is central to defining, interpreting, and developing recommendations from data. You will help answer open-ended real world challenges with trackable metrics or structured analytical frameworks, to generate insights that help users get more from the apps and games they have and connecting users to the apps and games they value most. In this role, you will be responsible for combining data analysis expertise with business judgment to influence business decisions and shape overall, long-term product development and strategy in collaboration with Google Play leadership.

The Platforms and Ecosystems product area encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications). The products provide enterprises, and ultimately end users, the ability to utilize and manage their services at scale. We build innovative and compelling software products—from apps to TVs, from laptops to phones—that have an impact on people’s lives across the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $298,000-$428,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Own and drive the development of key performance indicators (KPIs) to support product and business performance reviews with the cross-organizational leadership team and ensure analysis results in business insights or product improvement opportunities.

  • Oversee teams defining data requirements, data sources, formats, and analysis needed to address some of Google Play's data issues.

  • Anticipate and proactively address the likely concerns and challenges to the analysis and models, and implement the optimal methodology and tools based on available resources.

  • Identify and evaluate new market and product opportunities, analyzing and synthesizing information to own proposals and corporate decision-making and planning.

  • Convert open-ended apps and games ecosystem challenges into structured analytical frameworks, and generate business-related insights from data analysis in a way that is meaningful to leadership stakeholders.
