We are seeking a Senior Applied AI Engineer for the Microsoft Teams Calling, Meeting & Devices group. This person will collaborate with a multi-functional group to deliver next generation innovations and experiences leveraging, fine tuning and prompt engineering foundation models. Partner with product and engineering teams to invent and deliver on the future for Microsoft CoPilot and other generative artificial intelligence (AI) products.

Responsibilities

• Conduct applied science experiments, create and validate metrics, develop machine learning (ML) pipeline and modeling algorithm in the area of Large Language Models (LLM), Natural Language Processing (NLP), Information Retrieval, and Machine Learning.

• Developand deploy conversational and language understanding models at scale.

• Following and advancing best practices for Responsible AI and Privacy Preserving Machine Learning.

• Collaborate closely with Microsoft Research, Microsoft AI groups, Microsoft Azure, AI platform teams, and product teams to create the next generation of AI innovation in our products and services.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

• OR equivalent experience.

• Experience in system development, with the knowledge in developing rapid research prototypes to architecting complex systems.

Preferred * * *Qualifications:   *

• Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related experience ( e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

• OR Bachelor's Degree inStatistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years experience ( e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research) with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

• OR equivalent experience.

• 3+ years of experience in machine learning.

• Practical experience developing applications using prompt engineering, fine tuning, Open AI or Azure Open AI application programming interface (APIs).

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
