Google Program Manager II, Product Policy, Geo in Mountain View, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 2 years of experience in program or project management.

  • Experience in managing or defining product policies.

  • Experience with consumer facing products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.

  • Experience within the Automotive, Transportation, Mapping (GIS) industries or working on consumer facing products.

  • Ability to ramp up quickly on new technologies and processes.

  • Excellent communication skills.

As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish — working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It's your job to coordinate the players and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines.

The Geo Product Policy team supports all of Geo’s data verticals by driving policy and training development through close collaboration with Engineering, Product, and vendor counterparts.

Our policy efforts are critical in maintaining high quality geo data worldwide. They provide the foundations and guidelines for thousands of operators and are developed by a core team of Program Managers who partner closely with Product and Engineering leaders, Operations Leads, Legal, and pPublic Policy to develop sound, scalable policies that are used across Geo. Our team also maintains oversight of the hundreds of training modules necessary to keep our operations well equipped to support every Geo initiative.

The Geo team is focused on building the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users, through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, Google Maps Platform, and more. Every month, more than a billion people rely on Maps services to explore the world and navigate their daily lives.

The Geo team also enables developers to use the power of Google Maps platforms to enhance their apps and websites. As they plot a course for the future of mapping, they are solving complex computer science problems, designing beautiful and intuitive product experiences, and improving our understanding of the real world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $117,000-$172,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Develop, manage, and maintain geo data policies for brand new features on Maps.

  • Partner closely with Product Managers, Operations Leads, and other Google policy makers (e.g., Trust & Safety, Legal, Government Affairs) on policy creation.

  • Partner closely with the Tools and Machine Intelligence teams to ensure smooth integration of policy within Geo’s tools and algorithms.

  • Handle sensitive policy escalations and provide sound policy advice and guidance.

  • Manage the vendor relationship to ensure timely content creation, execution, and ongoing improvement to our policy programs.
