Position Summary:
The athletic training program, within the School of Rehabilitation and Medical Sciences of The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions at Central Michigan University (CMU ), is recruiting for a full-time, ten-month, tenure-track faculty member, at either Assistant or Associate rank, to begin August 2025, or an alternate negotiated start date. We are looking for an outstanding candidate who will demonstrate a deep commitment to excellent teaching and mentoring at both undergraduate and graduate levels (including our 3+2 athletic training major and the CAATE -accredited MSAT degree), actively contribute to service within the institution, the profession, and the broader community, as well as, enhance the program's research and grant activities. The successful candidate should possess leadership and collaborative skills to assist with the administration and organization of the program.
Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Applicants for the rank of Associate Professor must have held an Assistant or Associate position and present evidence of teaching, service, and scholarly activity consistent with criteria established by the school for the rank. Responsibilities of Position:
• Teach courses primarily within the CAATE -accredited Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT ) program. • Teach courses within the undergraduate and graduate athletic training curriculum. • Participate in school, college, university, and professional service. • Conduct research and other scholarly activities. • Assist with maintaining the athletic training policy and procedures manual. • Participate in student recruitment and retention. • Potential to teach supplemental, summer courses.
Required Qualifications:
• Doctoral degree in athletic training or related field. • 3 years of teaching experience at the collegiate level. • An established or directed research/scholarly agenda that is competitive for external funding. • Clinical instruction and supervision of students in an athletic training setting. • 3 years of experience as a BOC athletic trainer. • Current BOC certification, in good standing. • Current or eligible for athletic training licensure in Michigan. • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills. • Demonstrated leadership skills. • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion. • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
• PhD or EdD in athletic training or related field. • Familiarity with CAATE standards. • Experience supervising student research projects leading to presentations and/or publication. • Evidence of involvement with professional associations and organizations. • Experience with technology (e.g., Learning Management Systems, E-value) and electronic medical record software (e.g., Epic).
