Job Description:

The Practice Lead II, Software Engineering (US) is accountable for building, maintaining and evolving the culture and community of Software Engineering Practitioners. The role oversees a team of Software Engineers and is responsible for coaching on knowledge, skills and performance, building and evolving the practice's capabilities, and advising practitioners on their work to ensure solutions are sound.

We are looking for someone to join our team as we embark on a DevOps to DevSecOps transformation. We are changing technology and culture to enable an upstream approach to building, testing, and releasing software. Our team is working to empower all developers across TD to drive value for our colleagues and customers more effectively, efficiently, and with greater confidence in the solutions. We build capabilities to accelerate thousands of software engineers and lead execution and adoption of modern DevSecOps principles, practices, and pipelines.

As a Senior DevSecOps Engineer, you will lead the creation of comprehensive end-to-end solutions for our technology partners with overall accountability for the technical design and delivery of specific solutions based on requirements and needs defined by our stakeholders. You will develop and maintain technical solutions, ensuring adherence to engineering and architectural design principles while meeting requirements. You will also provide technical expertise with a focus on efficiency, reliability, scalability, and security, especially relating to the use of modern DevSecOps pipelines to enhance developer effectiveness. You will plan, evaluate, design, operationalize, and support solutions in compliance with enterprise and industry standards.

Ultimately you provide industry-leading expert advice and lead the engineers around you in developing and adopting the next generation of tools, processes, and practices to enable the delivery of solutions that delight our customers.

Depth & Scope:

  • Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required

  • Recognized as an expert in their field whose focus is on the coaching and training of practitioners

  • People leader with expert knowledge of disciplines and practices in field of expertise

  • Deep expertise and knowledge of specific domain or broad range of TD frameworks, technology, tools, best practices, processes and procedures, as well as broader organization issues

  • Proven ability in soft skills people management of large teams

  • Provide guidance on the work of practitioners as related to the quality of product(s)/work being produced, delivered & speed of delivery / to market

  • Ability to develop colleagues to be masters of their craft in the market around us

  • Quickly adapts to customer, stakeholder and regulatory needs in collaboration with Platform and Journey teams

  • Experienced in the continuous assessment of SE Practitioners and their craft to ensure enterprise practice standards are upheld.

  • Facilitates and Fosters Practice Community of Interest and use of this practice across the Technology organization

  • Contributes to the development of coaching strategies for individuals within their area of expertise

  • Provides leadership and guidance to several teams and solves cross-department issues

  • Participates in the development of business and practice strategies

  • Expert collaborator and is known for bringing diverse teams together to achieve a common goal

Education & Experience:

  • University or Graduate / post graduate degree in Computer Science or related Engineering discipline; or equivalent practical experience

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in field of specialization (pending job level review)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in DevSecOps, DevOps, or a related field with a strong focus on security. Proven track record in designing and implementing automation, pipeline, and security solutions.

  • Deep knowledge of security tools (ex: SAST, DAST, SCA), CI/CD systems (especially Jenkins, Github Actions/Workflows), and infrastructure as code (ex: Terraform)

  • Proficient in modern programming/scripting languages and container security.

  • Knowledge of mainframe or experience working on mainframe a plus.
