rrPosition Summary:
r This non-tenure track clinical assistant professor positions responsibilities includes supervising healthcare providers/staff, clinical practice and precepting learners at the University of Idaho (UI) Vandal Health Clinic, and teaching medical students at the WWAMI Medical Education Program.
Under the direction of the Associate Director of the WWAMI Medical Education Program:
- Supervise clinical faculty and staff at the UI Health Vandal Clinic
- Provide health care to pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients. This practice requires competence under current standards of care in:
- general medicine
- gynecology
- sports medicine
- trauma
- infectious diseases including STIs
- minor surgical skills
- dermatology
- womens health
- psychosocial medicine
Other responsibilities may include:
- Attend Health Clinic meetings and promotional events
- Participate in peer chart reviews and pass periodic laboratory proficiency testing and quality control reviews.
Under the direction of the UI WWAMI Medical Education Program Clinical Medicine Department Head:
- Teaching responsibilities may include:
- Clinical Skills education and assessment
- Hospital tutorials
- Mentoring students (over four years)
- Documentation education and assessment (H&Ps, SOAP notes)
Other responsibilities may include:
- Faculty Development
- Student Interest Group Advising
- Assisting with student orientation
- Service Learning Activity advising and supervision
- Serving on committees
- Didactic Lectures
- Electives
- Small group case-based discussions
- Other educational events
- Teaching other health professions students
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.
rrMinimum Qualifications:
r
- A terminal degree (M.D., D.O.)
- Board certified or Board eligible
- Active State of Idaho Physician and Surgeon Medical License or ability to obtain by hire date
- Active DEA and Idaho Controlled Substances registrations or ability to obtain by hire date
- Basic Life Support Provider Certification upon hire
rrPreferred Qualifications:
r
- Experience teaching medical and/or other health professional students.
- Clinical practice experience in a university student health clinic.
- Experience supervising clinical faculty and staff.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations and appreciate and relate effectively to individuals who hold multiple, intersecting identities including but not limited to historically marginalized and under-represented populations, various ages and developmental status, cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, international status, disability, gender and sexual identities and presentations.
- Experience working with or knowledge of the HIPAA of 1996 and FERPA, pertaining to the release of protected health information.
