Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).

The Senior Manager, Logistics will be responsible for developing, overseeing, and striving to maximize the efficiency of the logistics, distribution and transportation network accessory to provide end-to-end supply chains. The individual will plan for new network partners, designs, and capacity and capability growth strategies to meet targeted customer service levels, network resiliency, risk management, and enterprise strategic goals.

What You Will Do:

  • Designing and optimizing logistics plans and processes to meet supply chain demands and ensure customer satisfaction. This includes Multi-Generational Process Plan’s (MGPPs) to address performance shortfalls and growth. Knowledgeable of industry benchmarks, innovation, and trends in process and technology.

  • Managing a team of staff to evaluate and implement logistics programs and activities in compliance with related regulations for an organization. Responsible for developing a talent pipeline for practitioners, individual contributors, and the next generation of leaders. Able to effectively collaborate across the end-to-end value chain across multiple functional areas and disciplines.

  • Developing mechanisms and metrics to monitor P&L and forecast costs, savings, and performance for all transportation modes. Understands the data available and the data missing to then develop a comprehensive future looking performance metrics and measurement plan aligned with strategy.

  • Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time.

What You Have (Basic Requirements):

  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

  • Utilizes preferred tools, techniques and methods for estimating project cost and time.

  • Plans, estimates, staffs, organizes and monitors significant projects.

  • Identifies risks and vulnerabilities; creates contingency plans.

  • Conducts regular and ad-hoc project reviews with project team, sponsors, and clients.

  • Maintains open communication among project participants and interested parties.

  • Communicates reporting requirements; creates monitoring and control mechanisms.

  • Warehouse Management: Knowledge of the policies, processes and systems of warehouse management; ability to effectively manage one or more warehouses or distribution centers.

  • Analyzes and documents key performance indicators of warehouse management in own area.

  • Assists in implementing mechanization approaches and techniques in a distribution center.

  • Collects and translates the business requirements for specifications of warehouse management systems.

  • Supply Chain Management: Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and implement strategies, practices and tools for controlling the whole processes.

  • Recognizes software systems or components used to manage supply chain.

  • Participates in supply chain analysis and uses it to spot trends and improvement opportunities.

  • Discusses considerations for integrating partner and supplier transactions.

  • Summarizes supply chain considerations for different types of products.

  • Works with a specific part of supply chain management process.

What Will Set You Apart (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or equivalent experience.

  • ASCM Certification Logistics Transportation and Distribution (CTLD).

  • Previous experience with Warehouse Management systems.

  • 6 Sigma Black Belt Certification.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
