Brief Description of Duties:

SUNY Morrisville is seeking a Simulation & Student Support Specialist to support our School of Nursing. Read more about our Nursing programshere (https://www.morrisville.edu/program/nursing-bs) !

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Effectiveness in Performance:

  • Develops and implements simulation scenarios using technology, role playing, props and dialogue that provide a realistic learning environment reflective of the diverse campus and healthcare population.

  • Evaluates students' nursing knowledge and skills.

  • Maintains technical proficiency with all aspects of operation, maintenance, and support, implements hardware/software updates, and maintains ongoing inventory of equipment and supplies.

  • Collaborates with nursing faculty and utilizes course materials to establish goals and outcomes for simulation activities that are appropriate for each level of student.

  • Attends class lectures, collaborates with faculty, and utilizes course materials to develop and conduct weekly student support sessions.

  • Posts and maintains office hours weekly, as required.

Mastery of Specialization:

  • Maintain current knowledge and pursues certification on the use and operation of various simulator technologies.

  • Participates in professional development to effectively advance simulation as an instructional method.

Professional Ability:

  • Maintains the professional knowledge base needed to facilitate the education of learners in preparation for contemporary nursing practice.

Effectiveness in University Services:

  • Contributes to the SUNY Morrisville academic community through participation in division and campus committees and activities.

  • Applies knowledge of legal and ethical issues relevant to nursing and higher education as a basis for implementing policies and procedures related to students in the educational setting of the nursing laboratory.

Continuing Growth:

  • Engages in self-reflection and continued learning to improve teaching practices that reflect current practice and facilitate learning.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Accredited Master's Degree with a major in nursing, or demonstrated progression towards an accredited degree

  • Current NYS Nursing License

  • Knowledge of patient simulation methods, technologies and applications

  • Current CPR certification

  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience

Preferred:

  • Simulation Certification
