Bioinformatics Scientist II, Companion Diagnostics

Labcorp’s Companion Diagnostic (CDx) development lab in Morrisville, NC is seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist II to support the development of NGS assays for clinical trials and subsequent diagnostic use. The ideal candidate should have experience designing and implementing new analysis pipelines for NGS assays in a regulated environment, possess strong analytical skills, and be a self-motivated team player. We are looking for a confident, proactive individual capable of taking the initiative and driving to results!

This position is remote. Your success will be measured by meeting project goals on-time and within budget, meeting client expectations, and contributing to scientific growth of the CDx team.

At Labcorp you will…

  • Assume responsibility for designing, validating, and implementing new NGS analysis pipelines including software lifecycle (SLC) activities when applicable.

  • Provide statistical expertise for development projects.

  • Work in a fast-paced, high throughput environment to meet client driven timelines.

  • Interact directly with pharma clients and regulatory authorities, including the FDA.

  • Be responsible for revenue generation by bioinformatic client deliverables.

  • Participate in business development activities and presentations to win new business.

  • Support the Quality Management System with good documentation practices and audit internal activities as applicable.

  • Write SOPs, validation, and analysis reports.

Education

PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.

Experience

  • 5+ years of post-degree bioinformatics experience working on NGS assays is required, including but not limited to RNA-Seq, WGS, WES, or targeted panels.

  • Full comfort working in a *nix-based, command line environment. Bash or other scripting skills is essential.

  • 5+ years of scientific programming using Python and R.

  • Proficiency in statistical analysis methodologies is required.

  • Demonstrated ability to design, code, and validate analysis pipelines is required.

  • Experience with WDL, CWL, or other workflow development languages.

  • Experience with implementing workflows in a cloud environment.

  • Experience with Jira, Git and Oracle Agile PML strongly preferred.

  • Experience in IVD product development, including design control, strongly preferred.

  • Identify and offer suggestions for process improvements.

  • Ability to complete written reports as part of client deliverables.

  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to generate high quality data analysis.
