Atlantic Health System is Seeking a Nurse Practitioner for the Step-Down Unit at Morristown Medical Center
Atlantic Health System, one of New Jersey's largest non-profit healthcare networks, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our team of board-certified critical care physicians and residents at Morristown Medical Center. The MMC Step-Down Unit (SDU) Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) provides direct patient care services for complex, acute, medical and surgical patients. The APC performs physical exams, collects and documents data, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications, coordinates the care and discharge of patients, and provides direct patient care services.
Job Responsibilities
Must be flexible with shifts: Days and Nights
Provide /coordinate clinical care for medical and surgical stepdown patients
In collaboration with attending physician, round daily on patients to assess, diagnose, plan treatment, set priorities and outcomes, and evaluate the effectiveness and cost efficiency of patient care
Assess patients for change in status and institute appropriate interventions. Initiates emergency interventions in an effort to stabilize the patient when appropriate
Analyze clinical practice patterns so as to provide the best medical care and to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
Communicate verbally and in writing all pertinent patient information to supervising MD, nursing staff, and other relevant healthcare providers.
Document in the patients’ chart all relevant data including but not limited to results of diagnostic tests; laboratory results; patients’ condition and response to therapies/interventions; communications with provider team.
Role models competence in all nurse practitioner / physician assistant advanced skills

Qualifications
Master’s degree required
NP License in NJ required
ACLS and BLS required
Minimum of 2-3 years of Critical Care experience as an RN is preferred
Previous NP Critical Care or step-down unit experience is highly preferred
Must have excellent communication and computer skills
Strong work ethic and a team player who can work independently
