The coordinator works closely with staff and faculty in the Student Success Center, Quantitative Learning Center, Writing Center, and across campus to support student learning and increase student persistence and success. They provide focused TRIO SSS academic support and advance efforts to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where first generation, low income students and students with disabilities thrive and succeed. The position is funded in part by a US Department of Education TRIO Student Support Services grant through August 31, 2025; Morris is applying for FY 2025-2030 project funding. Salary: Annual salary will be no less than $47,500. Final compensation will be determined at the time of offer based on experience, education, etc. Job Duties: Student Success Center program development and management (50%) Develop, manage, and assess a comprehensive, campus-wide learning assistance program Recruit, hire, train, supervise, observe, and evaluate student peer tutors and Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) facilitators Lead the development of learning support resources and communicate best practices with faculty, professional staff, and students Manage learning assistance technology applications and programs, and advocate for improvements key to Morris campus initiatives Develop effective assessment tools and use assessment as a means for improving programming Prepare and manage learning assistance budget utilizing multiple student aid sources Serve as hiring unit coordinator and manage payroll for Learning Assistance programs Promote learning assistance and writing center support options to students, faculty, and staff Participate in professional development and keep informed on best practices related to the learning assistance field Student Success Center direct student support and service (25%) Provide holistic, strengths-based academic skills coaching and development for students with identified need, including students with incompletes, students on academic probation, and other students at academic high risk Coordinate a campus-wide program in support of students on probation returning to good academic standing Serve on University's early alert and/or CARE intervention team(s) and develop initiatives to respond to student academic concerns Maintain knowledge of Student Success Center and other campus programs to provide seamless student support Support new student orientation, welcome week, First Year Experience, and other campus-wide programming; provide direct support to new students registering for classes Foster welcoming, supportive, and inclusive learning environments and a culture that supports and celebrates student success Summit Scholars TRIO Student Support Services access & academic support programming (25%) Serve as an access liaison between TRIO SSS and Student Success Center resources, such as Disability Resources, tutoring, and career development resources Coordinate TRIO SSS transfer student registration, orientation, and support programming for project-eligible first generation students, low-income students, and students with disabilities in collaboration with Transfer Student Services Provide mentoring, coaching, guidance, and referrals to new transfer / advanced standing project participants in their first year at UMN Morris Assist with planning and implementing the SSS plan of operation Coordinate tutoring services and scheduling to ensure access for participants Develop and provide SSS-specific lea ning assistance utilization and impact reports Develop, implement, and revise peer academic assistance training and supervision resources and activities with a specialized focus on serving students from historically underserved populations including first generation, low income students and/or students with disabilities Participate in TRIO and college access professional development opportunities Qualifications Required Qualifications * BA/BS degree degree plus at least four years of relevant work experience, or master's degree plus at least two years of relevant experience * Demonstrated ability to work with and support a diverse, inclusive campus community; specifically supporting students from historically underserved populations including first generation, low income students and/or students with disabilities * Demonstrated skills and ability to recruit, supervise, coordinate, and train a dedicated group of peer tutors and facilitators * Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and a proactive approach to learning/using computer systems and various technologies * Demonstrated excellence in attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and communication with students, staff, and faculty * Capacity to assess program needs and develop strategies with faculty and others to address the educational challenges and needs of a diverse student population * Ability to work in a collegial and collaborative environment * Ability to accommodate a work schedule that includes evening and weekend hours Preferred Qualifications * Two or more years of experience in higher education learning assistance * Knowledge of differentiated instruction, academic success behaviors, learning strategies, and motivational theory * Background that includes overcoming barriers similar to those of TRIO SSS participants Physical and/or environmental requirements: N/A The employer reserves the right to modify, change or add to the duties of this position, consistent with the classification description, at any time.
