Lowe's HR Regulatory Compliance Administrator in Mooresville, North Carolina

Your Impact

The primary purpose of this role is to assist in ensuring HR compliance with all employment/labor laws (federal, state, and local) in all the various locations for Lowe's (e.g., Stores, distribution centers, corporate support centers, etc.). This includes responsibility for monitoring changes in the business environment, legislation, and regulatory standards that may affect HR policies and procedures. This role aid in creating and executing audits, conducting benchmarking studies, and evaluating current state processes/practices. The HR Regulatory Compliance Support is responsible for making strategy and execution recommendations for programs and practices that mitigate risk to Lowe's and creating and presenting such to all levels of leadership. This position serves as a project implementation support for new or amended laws by creating project plans and partnering with cross-functional teams throughout the company. This position must apply knowledge of employment and labor laws, government regulations, and agency rules to provide input into investigations, case decisions, and legislative roll-outs. Additionally, this role will help standardize compliance reports, processes, and procedures. The HR Regulatory Compliance Support assists HR business partners with any training materials related to compliance and governance for HR employment law and supports managers with ad hoc compliance training requests. This position requires extreme attention to detail, the ability to accurately read and interpret legislative bills and briefs, strong written and oral communication skills, and a commitment to serving our internal customers.

What You Will Do

  • Proactively monitors changes in the business environment, legislation, and regulatory standards and determines impact on HR policies and procedures to ensure continued compliance. Prepares legal summaries for the HR Regulatory Compliance team.

  • Serves as subject matter expert for HR regulatory requirements by maintaining and expanding knowledge of existing and proposed federal, state, and local laws.

  • With guidance from the HR Regulatory Compliance Manager, aids in driving compliance for all locations by creating and implementing risk mitigation plans, training, and auditing.

  • Performs internal audits, identifies gaps, and completes analysis for all areas of HR functions that impact Lowe’s compliance.

  • Monitors audit processes to ensure locations are consistently, accurately, and timely managing HR compliance obligations.

  • Identifies emerging trends and risks, recommending improvements/action plans for organizational compliance standards.

  • Collaborates frequently with the Legal, HR Policy & Process, HR Leaves & Accommodations, Benefits, and HR Systems teams to ensure policies, procedures, and processes adhere to regulatory standards.

  • Serves as a project implementation support for projects/programs requiring regulatory compliance, requiring cross-functional leadership. Assists HR Regulatory Compliance Leads and other business partners on other projects when there is a need for regulatory compliance input.

  • Ensures project deliverables meet legislative and internal deadlines by motivating and influencing business partners and seeking solutions to obstacles.

  • Partners with the HR operations teams to design and develop functional reports and metrics.

  • Partners with people leaders, stakeholders, and HR business partners at all levels of leadership to support and recommend employment law and HR compliance solutions and to address questions/issues.

  • Responds to general workplace compliance inquiries. Partners with Legal and HR Regulatory Compliance Leads, when necessary, to ensure particularly specialized, difficult, or sensitive matters are resolved in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Writes, revises, and/or implements company policies, directives, communications, and training.

  • Assists in Regulatory Compliance reviews by researching legislative trends, new bills or regulations, amendments, proposed legislation, and employment law trends.

  • Assists Lowe’s with required surveys and agency reporting.

  • Appropriately maintains all work in Lowe’s repositories and accurately documents all project work.

  • Handles sensitive employee data, reports, and proprietary and confidential information discreetly.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, HR, Labor Relations or related fields. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, equivalent work experience in a related field is acceptable

  • 4 years experience in HR Compliance, Compliance Project Management, HR Generalist, Employee Relations or a related role with primary responsibilities supporting HR regulatory compliance policies and/or procedures

  • 3 years advanced knowledge of US employment law

  • 3 years HR experience in an organization with multiple sites in multiple states

  • 2 years direct experience researching, analyzing, and implementing resolutions for federal, state, and local employment and labor law compliance (e.g. Wage and hour, anti-harassment, EEOC, FMLA, Paid Sick Leaves, leaves of Absence, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree MBA, Human Resources, or Labor Relations

  • 2 years service as a Project Manager, Lead, or Support

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR certification
