Graybar Financial Controller in Moorestown, New Jersey

The Financial Controller leads the accounting department, overseeing financial reporting processes and ensuring the company's financial health. This role is the liaison for all parent - subsidiary financial and accounting activities and supports strategic decisions with the Leadership team.

Responsibilities include financial reporting, sales and use tax reporting, budget preparation, cash management, journal entries, and ad-hoc financial reporting to aid company management and adhere to parent company requirements.

This position requires a strategic thinker and self-starter with strong leadership skills and a capability for guiding the accounting team and supporting integration activities as the company expands.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead and oversee all accounting and finance functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.

  • Prepare and present financial reports to Leadership team and Parent company, accurately report the company’s profits and analyze against the strategic goals of the Company.

  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including monthly closings, forecasts and annual budgets.

  • Maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.

  • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.

  • Makes recommendations on company policy based on analysis to ensure that financial plans are consistent with company goals.

  • Assist in integration activities as the company expands its locations, providing financial insights and support throughout the process, in conjunction with the Leadership team and Parent company.

  • Play a pivotal role in building out the accounting and finance team as the company scales, mentoring and developing team members.

  • Provide recommendations to improve systems and financial performance and engage in ongoing cost reduction analyses in all areas of the company.

  • Communicates, promotes, and showcases the Shingle & Gibb Core Values, policies, and procedures throughout the organization.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.

  • 5+ years of corporate accounting experience, with at least two years in a managerial role.

  • Strong familiarity with accounting software is required; experience with Epicor P21 is a plus.

  • Proven project management skills; experience in system implementations and integrations being a plus.

  • 1-3 years of experience in subsidiary reporting preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting principles and financial reporting standards.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Strong Leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

  • Strong time management and task management skills, ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to shifting priorities.

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

Pay Details:

  • The expected starting rate of pay for this position is $135,000 annually, depending on experience. This position is also incentive eligible, based on specific and relevant business metrics.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in an office environment, primarily at Shingle & Gibb Headquarters in Moorestown, NJ, with the possibility of hybrid work after one year based on performance.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Ability to lift 15 pounds independently

Travel:

  • The Financial Controller may be required to travel for branch office visits, supplier meetings, and other business needs.

  • Approximately 10-15% travel both regionally and nationally may be expected, including overnight stays.
