WSP USA Senior Advisor, Global Communications in Montreal, Quebec

The Opportunity:

WSP Global seeks to hire a Senior Advisor, Global Communications. As part of the Global Communications and Public Relations team, the incumbent will ensure WSP’s strategic positioning with key external and internal stakeholders, focusing on effective communications strategies that benefit WSP’s global reach. The incumbent will stand out for the quality of their advice and their copywriting and execution capabilities in support of WSP’s communications priorities to achieve and maintain visibility for the company among the stakeholders it serves.

The person in this position will work in hybrid mode with a minimum of three days in our Montréal office.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Collaborate with key leaders and partners to develop and deploy strategies and tactics in line with external and internal communications campaigns to reinforce WSP’s position as a global leader.

  • Develop and write effective, modern and engaging content to support communications objectives, including writing speeches, press releases, intranet articles, presentations, website and social media content.

  • Establish constructive and trusting relationships with stakeholders to advise them effectively on external and internal communications.

  • Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of effective communication strategies, campaigns and plans based on best practices.

  • Engage and inform employees through innovative, results-oriented communication strategies in support of the organization’s corporate services and business line teams.

  • Support corporate financial communications, media relations, social media, events and crisis management activities.

  • Participate in evaluating the effectiveness of communication strategies and share results with stakeholders.

  • Ensure consistency of message style and tone across all communications channels.

  • Proofread and edit various pieces of content to ensure their accuracy and clarity, as well as their adherence to brand guidelines.

  • Review and improve the company’s current internal tools and channels to better adapt them to employees’ operational needs and realities.

  • Participate in updating the editorial calendar to maximize the impact of each communication.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • At least five to eight years’ professional experience in external and internal communications.

  • A university degree in communications, public relations, journalism or a related discipline and relevant experience. Experience with a listed company (asset).

  • Excellent command of written and spoken French and English. Mastery of both French and English is a requirement for this position, as it involves working with stakeholders on a global scale.

  • Ability to synthesize complex business topics, as well as exceptional writing skills to create innovative content that effectively reaches target audiences.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where multiple projects and priorities must be managed simultaneously.

  • Rigour, initiative, team spirit and organizational skills.

  • Experience in working collaboratively with key corporate stakeholders and as an influencer of senior management.

  • High level of professionalism and ethics in all activities and interactions.
