This is a hybrid position with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.

Your role

The financial analyst provide a level of support to the support services, archives and regional communications, budgeting, management reporting and financial forecasting.

Conduct analysis and research of financial information and other non-financial data to support those activities.

Ensure that the information provided adheres to accounting policies and practices, identify deviations and recommend changes.

Provide administrative and financial support to the department manager and director.

Under the supervision of the Manager, Budgeting and Internal Reporting, act as a contact person for managers and employees seeking advice on how to apply and interpret HR, administrative and financial policies.

Key tasks:

  • Prepare the department’s financial position and ensure data integrity.

  • Identify significant discrepancies, gather input from all departments and produce a first draft of comments.

  • Ensure that reports, financial tables and other analytical tools are prepared, and comment on results.

  • Conduct the required research and analysis.

  • Coordinate monthly budget monitoring and participate in the full budgeting process.

  • Prepare management reports to assess the budget performance of the relevant departments.

  • Assist in developing and preparing monthly budget forecasts.

  • Assist in auditing, recording and reconciling the revised annual budget for the relevant departments.

  • Interpret and enforce policies, standards, methods and recognized accounting practices as well as auditor recommendations.

  • Ensure that operations run smoothly and that all items are properly recorded so that expenditures on the books accurately reflect reality.

  • Prepare accounting entries for approval.

  • Investigate and resolve administrative issues.

  • Assist the manager or director with all ad hoc requests.

  • Provide production teams with day-to-day support on policy and budget issues.

  • Support the department’s budget management by conducting analysis, preparing estimates and monitoring program and resource budgets.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • University degree in accounting or equivalent

  • At least two (2) years’ relevant experience

  • In-depth knowledge of general accounting

  • Proficiency with the appropriate computer systems and software (SAP, Excel)

  • Superior proficiency in French, spoken and written

  • Proficiency in English an asset

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work well under pressure

  • Good judgment

  • Comfort participating in and/or adapting to change

  • Excellent team player
