Sr. Spclst, Infrastructure Engineering – Migration Services Solution Engineer
Under the direction of Associate Director, Technical Product Management, Migration Services, the candidate will be responsible for delivery and maintenance of high quality, reliable, and cost-effective solutions that support and operate Migration Services product offerings and services.
Position Overview:
We are looking for a highly experienced and knowledgeable Migration Services Solution Engineer to join our team. As a lead engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and solutions for various server rehosting toolsets, such as VMware (vMotion, SRM), and RiverMeadow. Your in-depth understanding of migration services tools and software to support rehosting and modernization initiatives will be critical in ensuring successful relocations to and from public cloud, private cloud, and hybrid platforms. Additionally, you will be responsible for solutioning tools that support in-place operating system upgrades to remediate technical debt. Developing and maintaining SDLC documentation for the platform and its capabilities and actively participating in promoting best practices through community of practice and learning sessions will also be a core part of your role. This position will:
Develop and support products, tools and other technology applications for downstream data and application consumption
Collaborate with engineering teams to develop front end and back-end code based on prioritized requirements/user stories
Develops working software & unit tests based on the solution design within the solution’s architecture
Collaborate with scrum teams and third-party vendors to understand customer needs, develop products and services and identify risks/issues'
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide technical expertise and solutions for migration services: Utilize your knowledge of migration services rehosting capabilities to provide expert guidance and solutions for successful application and server migrations.
Utilize migration tools and software: Leverage your expertise with migration tools and software to guide and support rehosting and modernization initiatives, ensuring seamless and efficient transitions.
Coordinate migrations across cloud platforms: Solution migration methods supporting rehosting to and from public cloud, private cloud, and hybrid platforms, ensuring a smooth transfer of applications while adhering to security and compliance standards.
Perform operating system upgrades: Oversee migrations that involve operating system upgrades, ensuring compatibility and a seamless transition of applications.
Develop and maintain SDLC documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive SDLC documentation for the migration services platform, documenting best practices, processes, and procedures to ensure efficient and effective migrations.
Promote best practices: Actively participate in promoting best practices through community of practice and learning sessions, sharing your expertise and knowledge with other engineers and teams.
Construct, amend, and verify software systems, components, and integrations by writing software programs subject to estimation, measurement, quality processes, appropriate documentation, and continuous improvement processes.
Enable and maintain software configuration management capability across heterogeneous technology environments, architectures, and platforms.
Create and adapt software configuration applications and interfaces.
Develop and employ software capabilities empowering creation, renewal, update, and destruction of data subject to given objectives regarding security, compliance, policy, scalability, efficiency, reliability, fidelity, flexibility, and portability.
Validates and tests integrated systems subject to organizational standards regarding security, reporting, observation, and control.
Required Qualifications:
Technical expertise: Familiarity with migration tools and software to support rehosting and modernization initiatives is essential.
Experience with cloud platforms: Have extensive experience executing migrations to and from public cloud, private cloud, and hybrid platforms, including a deep understanding of the challenges and best practices associated with such migrations.
Operating system knowledge: Strong understanding and experience with operating system upgrades, ensuring compatibility and a seamless transition of applications and data.
SDLC documentation skills: Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain comprehensive SDLC documentation, documenting best practices, processes, and procedures.
Strong communication and collaboration skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical information clearly and concisely. Provide project management planning in development of complex initiatives supporting enterprise programs.
Problem-solving and analytical skills: Proven ability to analyze complex technical issues and provide effective solutions while troubleshooting migration-related challenges.
Identify and recommend continuous improvement opportunities to improve customer satisfaction, internal work efficiencies and cost reduction opportunities.
Maintain awareness of external industry developments and best practices to determine applicability to our company.
Make recommendations on service and product improvements.
Plan and coordinate activities with vendors to migration services offerings and solutions.
Education Minimum Requirement:
B.S. or equivalent experience required in IT, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
Required Experience and Skills:
5+ years of experience in IT field.
Min 2 years’ experience supporting software solutions for migration services activities.
Working knowledge of the following migration software such as and/or equivalent to:
RiverMeadow
AWS Cloud Migration Factory (CMF)
Azure Migrate
VMware vMotion
VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM)
VMware HCX
Excellent technical written, diagramming, and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with information technology professionals.
Experience working in a global team environment.
Ability to work with little supervision and proactively identify and respond to issues before they impact service.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Relevant certifications in migration services (such as VMware Certified Advanced Professional - Data Center Virtualization Deployment or similar)
Relevant certification in public cloud services (such as AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner).
Knowledge of on-prem subscription-based services (such as HPE GreenLake and DELL PowerFlex).
Experience with the Pharmaceutical industry, particularly with IT compliance within the regulatory framework.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

The Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job in certain states and cities within the United States. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.
Expected US salary range:
$114,700.00 - $180,500.00
